I want him to leave because he is terrible. Poor control, no strength. Very inconsistant. Gives the ball away more than any in the league (imo). Need to get rid of him or use him as a super sub.
I would rather sell gervinho than Walcott. He may be inconsistent but on his day (Newcastle comes to mind) he can be devastating. I have faith in him to deliver next year as he is undoubtedly improving. Having said that if he holds us to ransom....sell!
For £25m it would be foolish NOT to sell. It's all pretty academic anyway as he has also not signed a new contract. It seems to me as though Wenger just cannot invoke any loyalty in his players. Perhaps it is so obvious that he has lost the plot the top players just want out. We tried to brush under the carpet the reaction of RVP when Wenger took our best player off the pitch vs Utd, just after he had created the equaliser, and we seem to have forgotten that Walcott has said CLEARLY he wants to play as a striker. As a winger Walcott is not that effective. As a winger playing against a team defending deep and playing on the counter he may as well not be on the pitch he is so ineffective. Not having the ability to beat players and being a poor crosser of the ball are real killers when it comes to playing on the wing! His ONLY top class asset is his ability to time runs and use his pace to get behind defenders. This is dangerous for opponents and does lead to chances being created and goals scored in certain matches, but overall I would not lose any sleep over him leaving.
I think it's just the way footballers are now days. Loyalty is very rare. They're all either after money or glory. Lack of either and they may well be off. Not right by any means but that's the way things are these days.
For 15 milion i'd sell. There are probably better alternatives out there in that price range. As Jayram said, Theo is poor against teams who play a deep line against us, as he can't use his pace to get in behind the back 4. He should consider learning how to beat players with skill, having someone like Oxlade-Chamberlain who's younger and more skillful renders Theo as disposable. Add in Gervinho and Ryo too, and we're pretty well stocked with skillful wingers.
Whether you like Walcott or not, he has done well this season and provided enough goals and assists to warrant his place in the side. We simply cannot afford to continously lose our best players year in year out. We have to stop the rot otherwise we will surely lose a Champions league spot. If we lose RVP then who will be our main striker? Podolski, who hasn't played a game in the premiership? Other than that, we don't have anyone of notable class to play in the central position. If we hypothetically lose RVP then the way we drag things on will mean we won't get cover for him, and we'll really be up $h1ts creak, mark my words. No one can deny that RVP has saved our season and without him, we would never have made a Champions League spot. Maybe in some messed up way we need to lose RVP to teach Wenger and the Board a lesson?
Like it or not this summer is going to be exactly the same as the last for us. RVP is now off to the Euro's as is Walcott. Neither will be signed up before July, at which point we'll be heading off on tour. I can see a situation looming here where we have not heard a signle thing other than daily bad news and rumours right up to the point we get back from the tour - then we're scrabbling around again as the start of the season approaches. To have not sorted out the contracts prior to the Euros is a joke. Same mistakes repeated again and again and again.
Theo for striker makes sense all day long...he has pace and decent accuracy on goal. Him and Podolski upfront is a possibility...muscle and pace.
Spot on Sagna and Gibbs play more like wingers than Walcott does. Walcott's position is a RWF- he's not an out and out Winger.
You really are dim !! I tell people they are stupid when they say stupid things like you so often do. I argue with others but thats because I disagree with what they say, not because I think they are stupid, you sound like a silly child. Walcott has played as a central striker TWICE - the FA Cup final against Chelsea and a Champion's League game against Sparta Prague I think it was. Walcott is a striker and thats where he played for Southampton and thats why we bought him. He can play as a forward and as shown this season, he can play the role very well. There is not a single professional in their right mind who can say Walcott is a decent winger.
Agree Sell him and you can bet we'd be plunged into a panic to try and replace him. Who do you have in mind ?
PISKIE - Wenger doesn't play him that way often enough. Inside forwards don't hug the touchline which tells me that Walcott is not playing the games where he is out wide as an inside forward. Wenger's stubborn refusal to look facts in the face have continually hurt us. He did it playing Bendtner wide right of the front 3. He did it playing Eboue as an RM. He did it playing Diaby as a LM he did it playing Rosicky as a LM. He took off OXO against Man U because he was "injured" but then he started the next game. The man is stubborn as fcuk.
I dont see the point even even discussing selling the likes of Walcott. (ie: our better players) We've got a ton of fringe players that need to be booted out before anything else. Bendtner, Vela, Denilson, Squillaci etc..
He doesn't 'hug' the touchline. You'll find him there when we're playing the ball out of defence, but when we're in the final third, Walcott will be in the inside right position.
Yeah but look where he receives the ball, he is usually one on one with the full back and either cuts inside or goes outside like a winger. I don't want to see him play that way, I want to see him played in on goal - like a forward - this is where he is most deadly. He makes great runs, has pace to burn and is very accurate when through on goal in these positions.
