Can't see Brendan going to Liverpool, too soon in his career and Liverpool would probably want a bigger name too. Wouldn't be surprised to see Benitez going back.
it a perfect time for someone like martinez and to a lesser extent brendan to take over at Liverpool, Roberto who i think is a better manager at this time to take the next step up the ladder and given time he will have them playing the best football ever and will be challenging the top clubs, and it wont surprise me if the top clubs will be playing catch up with martinez......he has out grown teams like wigan and Swansea now and need to prove how good he is with a big club and they dont come any bigger than Liverpool....
Martinez struggles year in year out and ends up celebrating avoiding the drop by the skin of his teeth each time. Although Wigan performed brilliantly in the end aren't questions being asked how on earth they got into that position in the first place? It'll all end in tears.
Quite right here, but I wonder if he could do well with a better squad. I hope he gets it and it'll give him a chance to prove it or fail. Personally, I hope he takes it and finishes in the top 2/3.
I see absolutely no chance of Bobby getting enough time to do what he'd want to do. Wigan are finally, after 3 years, looking like a decent football team, despite early season results. It's taken that amount of time to get the entire squad behind his way of thinking and a few interviews I read with senior players suggest it should now be onward and upward for them. Liverpool need instant success, and I don't think the pieces fit for Bobby right now.
you obviously dont understand about how good a manager martinez is....he must have something that other clubs can see that you cant kangaroo with the amount of interest that martinez has attracted at the top level of football...he needs to prove himself and if teams like liverpool are interested then who are we mear mortals to disagree....i think he can manage at the highest level if given a chance.....
Well according to Sky Sports News at lunchtime, Brendan has been given permission to talk to Liverpool by Huw Jenkins and Brendan DID talk to Liverpool. He told them, "no thank you." BR=STID
I'd be happy for Martinez. I really would. I still believe we owe him a great deal here. That said, one has to question why every single year he has a team that are woeful - really woeful - up until the last handful of games. Why can't he motivate them before that? Isn't anyone asking this? Wigan play "the right way" but we know in Swansea that sometimes that just isn't enough. Wigan proved they have the players good enough to do well in this League so maybe it's down to the manager for not getting the best out of them from day 1 of the season. Isn't that a fair point? It could be argued that earlier in the season he tries to be too defensive and just hasn't got that nous in his locker. When the shackles are off and they play all out attack (because relegation is looming again) they get results. Remember how poor he was here defensively? If appointed I genuinely hope he does well there. But I don't see it.
