You get glory hunters when they are 10-15 years old. Most of you are probably around 15-30 years old who started supporting united due to their success. The ONLY reason you do this is because you are glory hunters - unless you are from in and around manchester.

Pre the mid 90s most of the glory fans followed Liverpool, that was certainly the case in the late 80s early 90s. Besides a few years in primary school in manchester most of my schooling was in Lancashire and most of the lads supported Liverpool, Leeds, Burnley, Blackburn. When I left high school many had become United fans while some United fans had become Blackburn fans on the basis that United won too much ( confused? I was ).

Glory supporters are fans who have no issue changing clubs when it suits. It doesnt even have to be the best team at the time, they could be on a good runor they could play nice football. Arsenal gained many fans in the last 10 years due to the style of football who have **** all to do with Arsenal or france. These are glory supporters.

I like the fact leeds have real supporters ( only 25000 of them mind ). These real supoorters will certainly grow to 35000 if you were promoted and of course they will claim they have never been away....

Bit like when the dingles (burnley) got promoted and suddenly every **** in dingle town had been going for years.....

United have always been one of the biggest clubs in the world. Much like you can be a glory supporter and support arsenal and liverpool today (despite a recent lack of success) you can also be a glory support who started supporting united in the 70's or 80's cos they are a big club.

In short - people who dont support their local club can never be "true" fans of a club because they dont know what its like to be part of the community of the club. They simply picked the club or their family picked the club. Thats completely different to having the club as a part of the community in which you live...so it truely is a huge part of your everyday life and not just when you go to a match on a saturday either live or at the pub or whatever. If you dont understand what I am saying then you probably dont understand how important football clubs are when you are FROM the direct catchment area of the club.
