Realistically where do we need to strenghten? A winger (if Yeates leaves), a striker (Garner has to go) and a centre back (if Mapps leaves)?? And that is only if a few make way first, we are not on a big budget here.
We HAVE to buy a winger, Prince was ok for a game or two, but he is not good enough to play there week in week out. I think we need to sign a striker, but i would rather see a loanee than another purchase. We need to blood Britt and Gav in a little and we have Deeney (pending trial outcome) and Iwelumo who are forming a good partnership. We also have Forsyth who i think will come good as a striker. I also think we are ok at the back. Noz and Taylor did well enough at the end of the season for me, and with Bennett and Thompson to come through yet i think we are ok. We dont need 5 players for 2 positions.
If Scott goes then we need a keeper , Hoping we can get a goalscoring striker (next DG) and a winger .I dont think Yeates is championship class Maybe using Forsyth as a crouchy style striker might work ,as a winger he isnt quite there,
Two new strikers is a must. Only having one striker capable of scoring is a joke and it puts far too much pressure on Deeney. We still haven't replaced Sordell and on top of that we need someone to replace that poor excuse of a striker Garner. A new left footed left back to compete with Dickinson. Ideally a younger player would do here (but one better than Tom James) A new left footed PACEY left winger to compete with Forsyth. A new central midfielder who is tall and can score goals. (Anthony Wordsworth from Colchester would be ideal) IMO we wouldn't need a sign a centre half if Mapps leaves as we would still have Nos, Tiny, Bennett and Mirfin.
Well he has gone on record by saying that he wants 3 players for every position to be sure of competition. So i think there will be a good 2/3 players.
Are you Wordsworth's agent? Your last sentence spoilt your post - Mirfin ahead of Thompson? Thought he had already agreed to return to Scunthorpe on a permanent basis anyway - or did I just dream that?
Chairman?? In the Bill Mainwood?? Ticket office meisters..... Not marketing, as Leigh Brooks is top class!!!!!
Depends on how many leave TBH. If Mapps is the only first teamer who is sold then I can see him being able to make only 2 or 3 new signings (without including loanee's).
well i have found a pattern in top scorers. every other season in the championship we have a good goalscorer, Marlon in 2006, tommy in 2009, Danny in 2011, so i think we should have a good scorer this season.
Kuszczak would be nice....otherwise I'm happy to give Loach a season. Even if Mariappa goes... we don't need a central defender. We have Taylor and Nosworthy....if either of them get injured we have Thompson, Bennett, Tumwa, Mirfin (if he doesn't go?). Personally think we need a new left back....Dickinson and Forsyth won't cut it. We need a winger... that's the priority signing in my opinion. A striker would be nice...but only if they are a good young prospect, or a reliable striker. No more Garner's or Iwelumo's please......
We had Tom James who was imo going to be a good player in a year or so. It was a big step up and he clearly did enough to turn some heads to be offered his first 6mth contract.
We need a goalkeeper sadly, but i'm thinking a loanee. We need a left back and a winger and a striker. Think that's about it for now
I know it was his first game for a while, but Loach was superb against Middlesbrough - no need for a new keeper if he plays like that next season!
