Could everyone shut the **** up. We're LFC and we support our managers, If Martinez is appointed then I will give him my full support as you should all do too, I don't want another Roy fiasco as it's embarrassing, we are better than that.

I would seriously struggle to back Martinez. I hope it's just one of many, he may be good at keeping a team up from relegation, but he will also have us signing the likes of downing and Adam.

Knowing our luck, that is probably exactly what will happen.....really hope they do this properly and get all the prospective names in and let them see who is best suited to the club.

Which ****ing clown would even approach Martinez?

He has done a ****ing **** job, the only reason he looks semi-decent is because he hits a little bit of form at the end of the season as opposed to the start of the season where he does ****e.

Lets take a look at his actual record compared with the last Wigan manager, managerial great Steve Bruce:

    Bruce

    G - W - D - L - Win %
    68 - 23 - 17 - 28 - 33.82

    Martinez

    G - W - D - L - Win %
    127 - 34 - 36 - 57 - 26.77

And in the cups his record is extremely poor.

09 - 10 league cup knocked out 4-1 away to championship side Blackpool
09 - 10 FA cup lose at home to League 2 Notts county 2-0 in replay (2-2 draw first game away)
10 - 11 league cup beat Hartlepool, Swansea and Preston then lose 2-0 to Arsenal.
10 - 11 FA cup lose 1-0 at home to Bolton in replay (away game 0-0)
11 - 12 League cup lose 2-1 away to championship side Crystal Palace
11 - 12 FA cup lose to league 2 Swindon town

So basically what we are talking about is a manager who is significantly worse than Steve Bruce. 7% worse, infact.

So to even have this guy as a candidate to manage Liverpool is ridiculous.

Or is it more that there were three (well 4 in the end, Villa were and are being mismanaged) other clubs that were worse than Wigan. Martinez hasnt done anything, he's just managed to make a team slightly better than the other dross at the bottom of the table.

He's another flavour of the month, he's done what was needed at the right time and been helped by other clubs who are just as **** not doing it. The majority of the season he and Wigan have been terrible.

His teams play brilliant football and common sense tells me that with money on a bigger stage he could possibly be successful. You're forgetting how **** and small a club Wigan actually are!

Well let's not forget that Chelsea's saviour this year is a guy who was sacked by West Brom so there is no guarantees who will come in and do a good job.
So many on here are calling for AVB but he didn't do great at Chelsea (yes I know he had the Chelsea mafia to deal with ) but all the same he looked tactically naive at times.
If its Martinez then lets get behind him and give the guy a chance.
I think he may do well. If he gets us beating Manure,Arsenal,Newcastle, in quick succession then he will have my backing .

In the last couple of months Martinez has got wins against Newcastle, Arsenal, Man Utd and Liverpool. He also would have beaten Chelsea if not for two extremely offside goals. If this can be taken as a sign of him learning the league, then he has great prospects as a long-term successor.

    Very nicely said indeed <ok>

I care about the results on the pitch, not the size of the reputation off managers off it. That's not to say that his appointment wouldn't surprise me as he's won nothing, has not played in Europe and hasn't dealt with the weight of expectation that he'll soon discover at Anfield......but ultimately, if he's in the hot seat, as long as he brings results, he will have my support <ok>

I don't doubt that he can play good football, but IF this moves happens, it completely lacks ambition by our club. I can't see players wanting to join us to play for him, I think our mediocrity will continue.

This is a good point. It makes qualifiying for the Champions League very important for players to want to come.

My God the knee jerking by some fans is absolutely ridiculous. Its funny how some fans even tout a manager like Jurgen Klopp yet if they look at his history, they will see that he has only ever managed Mainz where he managed to get relegated. Bad manager no! Just right conditions and a club that backs him.

Massimiliano Allegri, Antonio Conte,Pep Guardiola!!! These are all young managers who had little if any pedigree. And what have they done in the last two years?? They have gone on to win the Serie A Conte doing it unbeaten. Pep has done wonders at Barcelona. Martinez did not make his name at Wigan, he did so at Swansea building them up and up. Brendan Rodgers is now getting the plaudits of what Martinez did as groundwork.

Lucaaas has chosen to pick some stats comparing Bruce to Martinez yet forgets that the quality of players that Bruce had were of a higher quality. He has managed to keep Wigan up on a shoestring budget having to look for players in the Championship and below. When it has mattered Martinez has delivered what his chairman has asked for i.e. Keeping Wigan in the League, The pressure of fighting relegation may look easy but he had to beat Liverpool and Arsenal away, title chasing Manu at home and were denied point at Chelsea due to some awful reffing. All this has been done with them sticking to a philosophy of playing good football. Thats what we need in a manager and I fully believe he can succeed.

In summary if he is chosen back him don't start calling him a twat for just being linked with the job.

I'll assume (probably wrongly) that you've been a United fan all your life.

    Your immaturity suggests you're young.

You're very lucky you've never really experienced the lows in football. Run along now.

If its Martinez; I will be optimistic. He gets arguably lesser players playing good football & we have a hell of a better defence than Wigan has.there's light years of difference between his approach & the likes hodge. Arguably his league form suffered (except at the end) because he stuck to a set-up beyond the skill of his squad.

So he's stubborn even if it's not effective. (hang on......)

Looked at another way; all the Anti-K's have been telling us how average/mediocre our Kenny's squad is/was so Martinez should not be out of his comfort zone with them should he?

FSG won't need to spend a penny!

Compare that squad to Martinez's current one, the likes of N'Zogbia, Cattermole, Valencia, Palacios whereas now they are a team full of has beens and young inexperienced players. Not to mention Steve Bruce is actually a good manager.
