Here's my guess: Young and ambitious Smart (in both appearance and brains) A known name in football Good with the press, media and TV A good footballing brain A strong interest in youth development, scouting and home grown talent. Charisma Some one who believes they CAN and WILL take us to the top, not just wants the chance. Some one who likes to win and hates to loose Some one who is good with money Some one who can get the team playing attractive football Some one who can speak several languages, and perfect English Some one who wants a long term career with LFC Some one who respects them, and who they respect back Some one who knows the importance of LFC Some one who can stick up for them selves, the club etc in a dignified and respecting manner Some one who is not afraid to make lethal decisions in order to win A strong character Maybe that is some one not to different from themselves
Sounds like the perfect project for Roy.... I think being friendly (ie, saying the same boring **** every week which we expect to hear) with the media is one of their priorities with the next manager
Benitez is no spring chicken though whereas AVB is only at the tender age of 34, which means there is only one suitable candidate left!
for me its a good topic but i think there's a few things that you've over stated. 1. young... no not really. they are not into this 50 can be young for a manager. its all about energy and drive. 2. looks? no i can't see that at all given the looks of carroll and suarez i've never heard them yet on about the beckham type of player. 3. ability to speak languages? nah... 4. importance of the club? nah i think thats overstated. i mean we fans like to put our club on a pedestal but in reality a man like shankley needed to toss that stuff out and start from scratch. now the rest of your list. 1. strong eye for a player and has a scouting network. absolutely. 2. drive and ability to stick the pace at the top. 3. good with money. absolutely I honeslty think they need to look at someone quite expensive here unfortunaley and as a result i do wonder if they're about to make an awful blunder.
Yeah: Along with that Manager we are also on the lookout for 11 men with superhuman speed and strength. Agility of a cat, the entire footballing knowledge, skill & reflexes of The Spanish & German teams combined and all with beautiful singing voices for post match harmonies......
Here's my guess: Young, ambitious & Blonde Smart (in appearance but not brains) A known name in the lap dancing scene Good with the late night press, media and dodgy TV channels A good ironing brain A strong interest in breast development and home grown talent. Charisma not essential Some one who believes they CAN and WILL take us off their top off, and not just wants the chance. Some one who likes to clean windows Some one who is good at earning money Some one who is attractive Some one who can speak several languages, and perfect scouse Some one who wants a long term career with 7th Heaven Some one who respects them, and who they don't respect back Some one who knows the importance of beer Some one who cannot stick up for them selves, the club etc in a dignified and respecting manner Some one who is afraid to make any decisions A cracking figure
I think that the owners have made a massive statement to the fans by clearing out the entire back room. I wouldn't be too surprised to see them build a club based on what they know so I think Bruce Arena would be a decent bet and he'll bring in a whole load of american coaches, doctors etc. It will improve the global marketability of the club and could develop benefits in coaching and behaviour that other clubs can follow. I really hope they give it a go.
I'm wondering how much tranfer kitty a new manager will be offered. Got to be something Owners and prospective managers are going to talk about in negotiations. Certain Managers are going to be put off if they arent going to be given the money they feel they would need to do the job the Americans want. Where as other potential Managers could be happy if FSG are going to offer them peanuts. Still uncertain as to how much money FSG are willing to invest, its clear they want the club to stand on its own two feet and fund itself, but without CL and a new Stadium (or at least bigger) its not going to happen overnight. As they say 'it takes money to make money'.
Just pulling a figure from my head but I'd say there will be about 40 million available to the new manager.
I read on BBC that the new manage will get around 30M ... I dunno if that includes if we sell anyone though.
A job for me then eh DF as for the new manager list you've put together jk I think you're expecting miracles...and they just don't happen. What we're more likely to get is a manager who tows the company line, says nothing controversial, is as bland as a piece of cauliflower with probably a whole lot less footballing knowledge oh and he must be able to quote lots of stats to impress the "moneyball" men.
£30m is just the generic figure given for this type of scenario. How many years in a row did Benitez have a rumoured 30mil to spend. I think it would be closer to £50m or more. We wouldn't have gotten rid of Comoli for his poor transfers if we didn't have a lot more to spend and not having his input on buying the likes of Downing.
It was not my opinion. My opinion is that there will be a very small net spend from the owners pocket. Sales + a few million.
