I would love us to go for this kid, he scored for funny in the Fizzy Pop leagues.

    http://www.examiner.co.uk/huddersfi...-town-v-mk-dons-86081-30986532/#ixzz1v7OnBmNp

It doesn't say much really, but IMO he is worth a look.

I reckon we could get him for about 2million which is good business.

    He stats are:

    Huddersfield : Played 122 Scored 71

I personally think thats great. I remember watching him score 4 goals in a match - Huddersfield won 4-1 or something.

Obviously he wouldn't be our marque signing, but would you welcome him?

I think our clanger buying Wickham rules us out. It will be a requirement of Shorts I feel that players coming in must have done it at the top level.

Id like us to go for him and if Huddersfield get promoted id offer them a few million + wickham on a seasons loan

Ive watched this lad alot and he's never failed to impress me and he's never failed to score either. He'd be a gem for the likes of Wigan.

I have watched Rhodes a bit during the season (only on telly mind!) and he has and excellent strikers instinct. 40 goals in any league is very good IMO and I think he will make the step up just like a certain Kevin Phillips did. Lots of clubs keeping an eye on him though so I imagine he will go for more than £2 million, but if we could get him I would be very happy.

I would love us to sign Jordan Rhodes, like SKP he's a natural goalscorer.

No matter what level he plays at he will find the back of the net. I would pay between 3.5m-4m and offer them Wickham in return for a season long loan.

I'd take him here defo but think I saw an interview where he said he will stay at Huddersfield if they win promotion.

Will be a test of his loyalty if pl clubs come calling.

He'll cost more than any 3.5m. Huddersfield laughed at Leicester for their 5m valuation in January. I actually think 3.5m sounds about right but in todays market who knows. Very good player who I'd like to see at Newcastle.

Yeah I heard that too WP about Leicester - but if a PL club comes knocking then he starts asking for a transfer and the price comes down - £5m is silly money for a league 1 player (which is what he is) - I rate him from what I've seen but a 2 division step up is massive - no matter how good everyone says he is!

If Sunderland go to Huddersfield and say "£4m" guaranteed Rhodes will find out and (if he wants to move to the PL) will be knocking on the managers door - the clubs offering for him will find this out and the value of the player will drop - agents (unfortunately) rule the tyransfer market nowadays and every player has their price

I have never seen the lad play but from what I have heard is that he is fantastic.

The problem is will he fit into MoN's type of football

As far as striking targets go they need to tick the boxes and the boxes for me are...

    * can he play upfront by himself.
    * can he hold the ball up and bring others into play
    * score goals

It's not just about being a good player it's about fitting into a MoN counter attacking team

All sorts can happen with transfers fees. It all depends on agents, their clubs fortunes etc. Things could change quickly if Huddersfield don't win the play off final. Look at Cisse. We were quoted 15m last summer. Ashley moved on quickly deciding it was way too rich. They then find themselves in trouble in the league and financially and we pick him up for somewhere between 7.5m-9m. That's a big drop.

If Sunderland could somehow pick this lad up for a reasonable fee, I think they'll get a good player who will cope with the rise in class. I saw Zaha linked too but I think it'll have to be one or the other. O'Neill is going to want one of those coming in to be guaranteed to score 15 goals a season at this level. I'm surprised no one mentions Gary Hooper when talking about transfers and indeed the England squad. Scotland is Scotland, but 44 in 63 is good iwhatever the league.

I've seen Hooper a fair few times, and he does look very decent.

He's similar in style to Billy Sharp at Southampton, so maybe worth seeing how he does in the PL.

I saw some of the Huddersfield match the other night and thought Rhodes was very average. Clearly he is a natural goalscorer which IS something we desperately need but his other play control, speed etc was not much cop. Worried how he would do against world class players in the premiership. Just my opinion like. Watch another premiership club snap him up and he scores 20 goals!!!

watch the league one final this or next weekend (cant remember which) <ok>

hate how people dont want Zaha because he is a lower league player and call wickham a flop but will take a punt at rhodes....

look at adam lafondra moved up two divisions last year to reading and only in the last 5 games did he show anything at all...

I haven't seen enough to really comment but a scottish sunderland fan at my place reckons he has a touch of Phillips about him.

He's good on the ball, and he's strong, I wouldn't compare him to Phillips, although I can kinda see it.

Didn't you lot try and sign him when he was still at Scunny?

It was alleged but who knows. I know everyone mocks the scottish league but everyone said Henrik Larrsson only scored loads because he was in Scotland. Then he did alright for Barca and Man U.
