According to the BBC gossip pages, we're the favourites to sign Jordan Rhodes. Here's the article they link to: http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/jordan-rhodes-set-for-fulham-move-836522 If this is correct it's great news. If the price is correct, it's even better news.
1. Jordan Rhodes for £3.5m is a very good deal for us. Even if he does flop (obviously hope he doesn't), £3.5m is not exactly breaking the bank. 2. I'll believe it when I see it, both on price and the signing at all. 3. Does Lee Clark play a key role here? Rhodes flourished under him and may be swayed by some key recommendations from Lee to consider Fulham. 4. Lastly, I have been encouraged by some of the links so far. We don't seem to be bottom feeding for players like Scott Dann, which is a big relief!
I was just going to post this as I seen this on a number of websites when I got into work this morning. Really hope there is some truth in this.
3 is a great point... I forgot about the Lee Clarke connection. Also completely agree on 1 too. If we could get him for £3.5M it would be a great deal.
Agree with surlyc on all points... worth a gamble as he seems to know where the goal is, but I would think a low fee of £3.2m would have add ons.
Sounds like a good prospect, though I suspect he's got much to learn stepping up to the EPL. At 22 he's got time.
Good signing if it happens, he and Trotta could represent a promising pairing for the future and put pressure on the Pog for a place (assuming he stays). This surely means at least 1 of Sa and AJ won't be here next season though, or possibly both.
If this is true then it's great news, but that is a big IF. West Ham had an offer of £5m rejected in January so why would they sell for £1.5m less when they are on the verge of going up to the Championship, which would increase his value even more?
The simple answer to that, Bandit, is that I expect West Ham offered £5m paid in instalments over a 2-3 year period. If we offered £3.5m up front plus an addition £500k after 10 games, 10 caps and 10 goals, that is a much better deal for Huddersfield. Going up to the Championship doesn't increase his value at all, it just removes any suitors from the Championship. Although, as I said, I'll believe it when I see it.
like everything this time of the year, its all gossip. something to fill the papers with, wait until if and when he signs, time will tell
Indeed - if it was done 'n dusted not sure why we had a scout at their game against MK Dons last night http://www.examiner.co.uk/huddersfield-town-fc/huddersfield-town-news/2012/05/17/manchester-united-sunderland-and-fulham-scouts-among-footballing-faces-at-huddersfield-town-v-mk-dons-86081-30986532/ Should it come off though, at the price it would be an excellent signing. I can see him hitting it off with Ruiz.
Of course it increases his value. He will be more valuable to Huddersfield in the Championship than in League One as you need to keep your better players to compete in a better standard of league.
If indeed Fulham are sincere in the offer, i am sure to get their man they would exceed the 3.5mil stated.
I can't see him going for £3.5m. I was thinking closer to the £8m mark but I would love if this came off, but at the moment it's just speculation.
its the crazy gossip time now, take no notice from the daily mirror, if he signs great at the moment its all paper talk
This is bad new!!! (We wanted Jordan!) If you get him for 3.5 mill that will be an absolute steal. He is top quality. 36 goals in 40 apps, stunning. But it's not just the goals, he's a real hand full any defence, he's super strong, 6.2 and deadly in the air. The quality of some of his goals says it all. He won't flop. Peopl will be jealous of you by Christmas.
