oh i know,i know it's what's happened has happened, time to move on and all that. But i for one am still gutted to see him lose any ties with the club. Anyway i was wondering,i know Nick has said he didn't want to manage any other, but now he finds himself unemployed. Will he want to walk away from football altogether. I hope not. He's still young and the experience is there as are the contacts. Most of us loved having one of our own in charge and it's a crying shame that he didn't have the time to prove himself. He always struck me as a no bullshit man. A man of integrity. If i was the owner of league 1/championship club in need of a manager,id look closely.
Id personally like to see Nick stay in football, I think he's got a lot of experience to give and will be a great coach/manager one day. Managing in the championship was probably a step too far for him and I think he'd be better off managing a L2 team and gaining experience that way... who knows what the future could hold though, if we have different owners in the future, barmby could come back one day..
I don't think he will for several reasons. Firstly he's such a pragmatic type I just think he will say to himself, do I really need the grief this will cause to me and my family. Secondly, I'm not convinced football means that much to him that he desperately has to stay in it in the same way as you could say for people like Windass or Gascoigne. Thirdly, after his experience with the Allams he may, rightly, have been given a profound heads-up to how football today really isn't worth it.
I think it'll depend on what comes out of his appeal, but if it's what the Allams said then yes I think he'll be back, maybe take a break for a while, see what he can get next year. I can't see him going to be a coach anywhere as the manager would always be looking over his shoulder in case NB was eyeing the position.
No idea but you'd imagine he's going to have a long, hard think about it, with his close friends and family. Because right now he must be feeling sick and quite rightly so. What will also piss him off is the fact that he hung up his boots to manage his home-town club. I remember in an interview he said it was a very hard decision as he felt he had more to give on the field. Well we all know that was true - we could have done with Nick Barmby THE PLAYER during the run in.. I'm pretty sure we're feeling like Liverpool right now, not the same suituation but both clubs are going to have massive issue appeasing the fans..
It depends how much he loves football, he shouldn't let this put him off if his heart is still in the game. I don't think we are going to appoint a manager who would do things any better with the players and squad he had available, regardless of any spurious nonsense spoken by the owners about Billy Sharp.
Can't see it at the Tigers for some time, although I believe he will be the manager again one day. Barmby hasn't done much else than be a footballer, it's in his blood. His experience as an international player, coach and yes...as a manager...means that he has too much to offer not be involved. Aside from what has gone recently, the fact remains that he represents a lot of what is good in sport and not just football. Does the game have to be about idiots like Bullard and Barton? Or someone's millions? There isn't much room for sentiment in professional sport, and that's exactly why Barmby MUST be kept in the game, to coach, or develop clubs/regions etc etc. I suspect too much has gone on to see Barm's back at city for a while, but the FA should be falling over themselves to offer something (e.g. regional coaching etc) whilst he considers his next move. The game is built on those who love and have a passion for the game, as well as a nice blend of experience and youth and Barmby has a lot to offer in all those areas. Now if I was a Scunthorpe fan I'd be pleading with the club to get him across even on a consultancy basis...
I hope he stays in football. I hope he works with someone like Moyes and gets his badges at Everton or something. One day I hope he's back at the club in some capacity. Be it a post-Allam Hull City or after a number of years our manager (whoever it is at that time) convinces the Allams to bring him back to the club in some role. Dare to dream.
Personally, once the Allams have gone, I think he will be Hull City manager again. However, until then, I would like him to go into punditry like Gary Neville.
A very good post Lincoln. I look forward to hearing what Nick has to say on recent affairs. But whatever comes out,i don't believe it will have any real baring on Hcafc's future,so at the end of the day,it won't really count for **** because we will have to move on,for the black&amber. Olm posts. Hull City should appoint him manager, he'd be ideal. That souns like a throwaway comment. But it's the ****ing truth.
Cheers KK, I agree with you, we just have to move on. I'm not sure what's worse though... waiting for the announcement of a new manager or thinking through the scenarios of certain individuals getting their hands on our club. Saying that, whoever it is, they need our support and to be given a fair wind. (Though if it's Blackwell, in my case...well... it'll be through gritted teeth)
What else can he do? Has he any other skills? Doctor? Brickie? Accountant? Lorry Driver? It's got to be either football related, or he spends his money on setting up in business. What about something related to Generators?
He said he wasn't interested in other jobs, but by that did he mean he didn't want to leave us for another club or that he wouldn't even consider managing another club. He played for plenty of other teams before we were ever good enough to sign him so you'd think he doesn't mind being at another club. My guess is that he loves the game too much and wouldn't fancy himself as a pundit or anything like that, so I'd guess he'll want to stay in coaching or management.
