Tell ya what, if we had brought Owen in last January on a short term loan, we would have ended up in top ten, he would have taken the chances others missed.
We won't go for him, and he won't want to come here, but Syd is right, he will always score goals and would have made a difference for us last couple of months.
Next seasons dream team.. GORDON OSHEA..TURNER..BRAMBLE..MCARTNEY ELMO..GARDNER..VAUGHAN..COLBACK HESKEY..OWEN Enjoy your lunch if you can
Kevin Phillips would have been a better option imo, then maybe we should have offered him a coaching role, showing our boys how where the net is
I think Owen would be a decent signing for any side outside of the top 5 or 6.* I've watched him alot for Man Utd and when he's played he has scored. Yes he is injury prone, but if your getting him for nothing then it's a risk worth taking. I'm not saying he's fit enough to start, but he would be useful as an impact substitution.* He still hasn't lost that predators instinct he has around the box, he would be a realy good signing for you guys*
I have always said this. He would be a brilliant mentor to our young lads but don't think it will happen now. He has signed on for another year with Blackpool according to what he was saying last week on Soccer AM, then he will probably be retiring.
aye Blackpool exorcised the option of signing him for another year, regardless of what league they're in, their gain i suppose
He's not bad at all, still has some skill and he's skinned us before at the SOL. He'll cost nothing ...wages, well he'll have to just suffer with that one and take a cut - there's a recession, don't you know? Could be a great impact sub? Yeah, could do damage if we're seeking a winning goal
I would have Owen. Get him fit, he knows where the net is. Look as SKP. He is old but can still score. I would have him on a 1 yr contract.
What hasn't been mentioned here is the wages he commands.... Also about SKP, my favourite player of all time. The best players don't always make the best coaches.
I would love you guys to sign Owen. He is still quick and not at all injury prone. Or so his brochure says.
