Make no mistake, FSG know exactly who is coming in; and he is bringing an entire team with him.

I cannot and will not accept that otherwise savvy, strategic people would sack an entire management team without plans already well advanced.

While I'm sad to see Kenny go, I am prepared for a flurry of activity at Anfield over the next few weeks; exciting but nervous times......until we see who will be at the helm next season!

Apparantly, the owners have been consulting with David Dein is a proper football/business man who knows a thing or two.

According to BBC, the owners have seen at least one candidate for the CEO position, and have spoken to Cruyff and Txiki in regards to the DoF role.

Interesting! David Dein is a very respected man in football; However, it may mean a relative unknown walking into the Anfield hot seat........anyone ever hear much about Wenger before he arrived? If true, it means that the goal is sustainability; no big flash signings as per the Arsenal model.

That's a good point. Now I don't know what to expect! I was hoping for an experienced European manager i.e. Rafa/AVB/Klopp etc but now I can see Rodgers or Martinez comiing in!

Dein also oversaw the financing and building of the Emirates stadium and made the relatively (to us and Utd) small Arsenal brand bigger than ours!.....a real visionary imo. Hope he comes on board....things will happen!

Yeah, he did a fantastic job with Arsenal and all the staff (including players) have massive respect for him.

I think he's getting on a bit now so a full time role is probably out of the question but I can see him as a part time advisor/consultant. Either way, if we can get any involvement/input from him, I think it can only be beneficial to the club.

Agreed. My biggest concern is that while all of our competitors are signing the best talent prior to the Euro's, we'll miss out until someone is in charge....

I will offer an alternative point of view to this extremely optimistic view... which btw the Dien stuff has no foundation bar rumour.

My alternative view is simply thus:

FSG have indeed completely cleared the decks as it were, we can leave aside the fact that the cleared an awful lot of their own "foundations", NOW it is entirely on FSG to make the right decisions and they will be judged on the efficacy of said decisions.

We've no coaches, no manager, no DoF, we've got rid of a lot of back room staff around the club as well. In short just about the only FSG decision still in effect seems to be the rpomotion of ayre to an MD position as they didn't recruit externally for the role. I will patiently await the outcome of their cull and will judge their next steps objectively against the standards they set. Those standards are clear. 8th isn't good enough. 4th is what they want worst case. Cups don't matter.

Also worried that whilst we are in limbo, players unclear on the future, other clubs might swoop in for Suarez and one or two others. Rumours have already started, Barca might go for Suarez (granted it was caughtoffside who are about as reliable as British trains).

Hope they dont take too long cause this summer is going to be a big one for all the major European teams and we dont want to be two steps behind

SAF was an unkown as was Wenger, I think AVB can be the same for us - he is young and charismatic and what's more at the tender age of 34 already has a great record. We need someone who can build a new era for us for the next 20/30 years, AVB is a no brainer.

Not sure that this is an alternative to what's been said; I'm saying they have a plan, you're saying that they've set expectations from here on in....it's a different subject really; but I do agree with you...they've drawn a line in the sand.....to a large degree. I do wonder, however, how much the Suarez PR disaster hurt those involved; I'd wager this had a some part to do with the exit of some of the individuals.

In any event, it's all guesswork and opinions....so I too will patiently wait for news and accept my lot, judging AFTER we actually begin to play football next season....unlike some I fear!

I am saying that you have said they know exactly what they are going to go do and he will have an entire team of staff with him. You say you can't accept these "savvy, strategic people would sack an entire management team without plans already well advanced."

my point of view is an alternative as I am not so assured they are so savvy and strategic as they had this chance last summer when they could have returned kenny to the sainted position in the academy. My view is there can be no excuse and all decisions are FSG's. Their next decisions will decide the future of the club, of that i am sure. I view you as being very optimistic that everything is well advanced and a firm plan has been made. I think honestly they are going to take unitl august to make an appointment and the rumoured names have a wide range of abilities and one wonders if its rafa mark ii or hodgson mark ii we'll end up with. Who knows.

I think their actions need to be judged by their effectiveness, not on day one. They've sacked a legend and shown whats required. If they appoint someone who can't do it then fail its their fault not that guy and if they appoint a great manager and fail to hand over the actual cash required again that's their fault. On the other hand if their appointment genuinely improves the situation and can do that by actually signing good players then that's where they are seen to be effective.

I will wait and see as I don't see them being so savvy honestly.

    ......

On the other side, i would also agree that the co-incidental nature of everyone involved in the suarez affair being sacked is interesting. However equally Adam, downing and to some extent henderson are bigger nails in the coffins as it were. One can see why comolli went, one can see at some level why kenny went despite trying everything possible to get players to bother themselves but while I may see why I will judge FSG by the improvement these decisions make, if any.

Got ya! We are opposed in our thinking then. For me, these guys are strategists......you just have to listen to them. If your prediction is true, then I would be seriously worried. I predict an announcement relatively soon....and a lot of other things falling into place soon afterwards......I simply cannot accept that they would leave the club in limbo until August.....or even June!

That said, my view is only driven by my understanding of how corporations, especially US corporations work.....I readily accept that I may be way off the mark and they may indeed be clueless right now.

Either way, as you, I shall be supporting the team, as usual, come August......tell me any other Brand outside of football that inspires such loyalty eh?

I had a vision of our players huddled together in the dark and someone swooping to whisk the best ones off into the night......
Seriously though, not much can happen until some sort of management structure is established.
