Andre Villas - Boas was kicked out of Chelsea by Roman Abramovich, I cannot see why John Henry would like to make him the next Liverpool manager. For a quick fix not the right man: I am not sure if you are looking at a five years project either. I do not know if Roberto Martinez can rise up to the occasion at a bigger club. I think with a bigger budget he can perform. Rafa Benitez- He almost won the title for Liverpool, who knows whether he can do it if he comes back?. I have opinion on other candidates, but understand John Henry is on his way to Britain to conduct interview.
It'll be someone slick & shiny to look good in the society pages of the Boston Globe. Actual knowledge of "soccer" will be a bonus.
I wouldn't be against the idea of getting AVB in. Any manager is under pressure working for Roman, but AVB had the task of changing Chelsea's entire culture and style which isn't easy with the senior players like Terry, Lampard and Drogba around. Di Matteo came in with a different objective - to save the club from embarrassment which has less pressure attached. AVB did a fantastic job at Porto - you will argue that it's not the difficult which I would agree to some extent but to win the league, practically winning every match and scoring a shed load of goals in the process is quite the achievement. He fits the owners criteria - young and has good credentials. Compare this to Martinez who is older and is at Wigan, constantly battling against relegation. If the owners are seriously considering him then god help up. My favourite would be Rafa for the reasons you have already mentioned plus he's a free agent as well.
Massive reservations about AVB. Still I suppose whoever comes in we could always sack them again after a few months eh
We need to get behind whoever comes in, everyone will have a different opinion. I think he would be a good appointment.
Liverpool have no front-runners to replace Dalglish. Source:http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18097439
I'd like AVB to take over. His job at Chelsea was near impossible, heck if a guy like Ancellotti couldn't do it then what chance did AVB seriously have?
AVB was in Boston two weeks ago. I understand he is currently in Brazil scouting. For whom is not clear. GKRK
The thing with AVB is his age compared the Chelsea squads age. He was the same age as the main players. Chelsea's ego's, like Terry, Drogba etc. classed with him and they couldn't cope. Our squad is young and raw, and not so egotistic. could work.
From this mornings paper - It's the express so clearly not gospel. http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view...sk-Andre-Villas-Boas-to-make-Kop-great-again-
Capello closes door on Chelsea: I'm not going there, says Fabio, but Liverpool still interest him .By Derek Hunter Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...Chelsea-link-Liverpool-him.html#ixzz1vOxrLsUq
You've become very cynical all of a sudden, frank. They want us to win, they know they've got to get someone in who can do the job. Who that person is, I have no idea, but I think it's harsh to judge AVB solely on his Chelsea experience.
I think Capello is surely to old for what the owners want. AVB could be great. Especially if given time.
I wouldn't mind AVB. He came in to Chelsea with the project of getting all the old players out and bringing in a younger squad. His only problem was that the players didn't like it and it ended up getting him the sack. We wouldn't have any big ego's in the same way that Chelsea do so think he could do a decnt job for us.
The guys was excellent before Chelsea, he's been taught by the best, he's young and actually has a decent amount of experience. Getting hounded out of Chelsea can happen to anyone. I'd take him definately. The guy has the motivation, pedigree and a point to prove.
He'd be last on my list good luck to him if he gets it but given current attitudes within the club I doubt he'll get given any more time at Anfield than he got at Chelsea. We're a sacking club now don't forget.
