Terry has one good game, followed by two poor games, it seems to me. He is a good defender, but i just don't think he is international standard anymore. I'm honestly not just saying that cos I can't stand him, I genuinely think he's not good enough. Ashley Cole is still quality. I hate him too. Frank Lampard, still good enough as a squad player. But time to move on!
We're not good enough, end of. Our 'golden generation' are pensionable now and were never as good as their publicity anyway. The only world-class player we have now is Hart. Rooney if he's at the top of his game is up there and Wilshere can be but is out. Some promising youngsters coming through such as Barkley at Everton but will they be brought through the right way?...
Terry, Lampard, Cole and Cahill all play for chelshit, ergo they are all ****s, and I don't want ****s representing England anyway, so Woy should have taken Wio, just to wind these ****s up. BTW, did I say they are ****s?
**** knows how he's going to do it on his own against 11 ****s, but I want this 'Brian Munich' bloke to thrash chelshit on Saturday!
I think it's a real shame that we missed out on the opportunity of throwing an entirely new generation of footballers into this tournament (the build up means it SHOULD be reduced expectation) for the purpose of getting them blooded for future tournaments. There are lots of younger players that we could be giving a chance to that could form the nucleus of the team for the next 10 years. This generation (ie the current team) were in their prime 4-6 years ago and royally ****ed it up so God knows what anyone expects them to achieve now.
UPDATE: Apparently it was part a coversation between two men in a corridor overheard by my mate's relative. One sentence - "I am surprised at Barry" - could have been "I am surprised at Gary" referring to Cahill. Terry was referred to as a "toss-pot" by one of them.
Spot on. The mentality here is different. You are taught to win, simple as. I remember playing at grass roots level and with some managers literally being afraid to go into the dressing room if we had lost and that was U-12 football. I played at Right back for a few seasons and the first thing we were told to do is clear your lines and stay on your feet. Therefore people didn't know how to pass a football or how to tackle intelligently or be able to read play and track runs. Plus it was always basic 4-4-2. Every team played a flat 4-4-2. A player like Messi with growth deficiencies would never have made it as a pro here in England, whereas we've seen people with limited football ability i.e Crouch, Carroll and Heskey play in major international tournaments for England. Downing would not get in any Premier League squad if he was right footed. I've spent years trying to tell people the pool of players to pick from isn't good enough and other countries are far ahead only to be told the same old ****e about how England are an underachieving nation. Bar one fluke World Cup win (which was probably the most corrupt tournament I have seen) what have England ever won? England have not produced better players than Bobby Moore, Bobby Charlton or Jimmy Greaves and that was nearly 50 years ago yet they expect to beat sides that are producing their best crop of players for generations I actually think England overachieve for the crop of players they have. Rant Over
its in the blood yet i do see promise ... I watched from 10 minutes a game yesterday evening in Mid Sussex ... kids were knocking it around very well. I have one mate at Brighton at the moment and he is magic and from a breed that plays footie the right way... At 8 years old this lad could chip a ball into a waste basket on a French beach at 25 yards 8 of 10 .. nearly as good as me
Are you sure hes just your "mate" Oddball? We've talked about your antics in Brighton before. Have you told your Mrs the truth yet?
They're all sisters when you turn them over ... Mrs Oddball doesn't mind my younger friends as she is a bit of a licky lizard herself
