Despite all the gloom surrounding Pompey at the moment there must still be some nuggets of good news out there. This is the place to share any which you have. I will start us off by saying that this morning it was so nice and sunny that I went into the garden and had my cup of coffee, whilst topping up on the old vitamin D. Made me feel glad to be alive, that bit of sunshine. Any other "rays of sunshine?"
On the football front, many "younger viewers" can be cheerful as they get the opportunity to visit grounds they've never been to before where supporters are supporters and not glory hunters.
I know it is easy to say now but in truth I have enjoyed the last few years as a Saints fan and have met some really great fans in League 1 and the Championshp. I still have mixed feelings about the Premiership. It is a great feeling to know we shall see some great players next season but it will change the whole ambience of our crowd and we will have to get used to be regularly stuffed now we are once more a small fish in a big pond. With regards to the sun this morning it was really uplifting and I spent the morning pottering in the garden enjoying every moment of it. The rain was starting to get to me.
Just couldn't find anything to be that cheerful about this morning as the wildlife habitats at the front and the rear of my house are both crying out for taming. Got started on the front, just so the postman can actually reach the front door (I don't know why I bother about him, only brings demands for money from various institutions such as Medway Council etc) and then I realised that I needed something from the garden centre, so spent a very happy afternoon pottering about in the garden centre and came home with my weedkiller. Now that is a reason to be cheerful. The garden can wait until tomorrow.
Oh, in case you hadn't noticed, it is Friday, it's after 5, let's hope it's a crackerjack weekend. On a personal note, I have finally booked my summer holiday so I don't need to worry about that any longer, and dang- the sun is still shining! That does it, I am going to get my law mower out right now!
Just got back from a lovely walk in the country - spring has sprung and all that. Stopped on the way at a pleasant hostelry that serves Hogs Back T.E.A. so feeling content and mellow. Curry and pub quiz tonight so the lawns can wait for tomorrow seeing as they are forcasting sun again.
Got up at sunrise (5:30), walked along the coastal path to the beach at Protaras and had a 'wake-up' swim. I never did that before work in blighty! ... and I have a day off tomorrow
i think in terms of other footballing news, gosport borough gaining promotion to the southern league premier division is probably the highlight of this season for this side of hampshire; all brought about by a familiar face http://www.gosportboroughfc.com/news/n090512a.htm
Steve Claridge is to football what Ric Flair is to wrestling. He says he's going to retire but sooner or later he'll be back.
this may be clutching at straws here but according to the latest uefa club coefficients, pompey are still the 88th best team in europe (despite being the 42nd best team in england) http://www.uefa.com/memberassociations/uefarankings/club/index.html obviously uefa's calculator needs a bit of an update
tail-wagging dog, purry cat, cheaper tickets(?) no prawn sandwiches, Terry Pratchett, (88 = 2 fat ladies) No Millwall
