I'm sure everyone will be glad to hear this but I've decided this is my last post. Football never really was 'my bag' and in the words of Oscar Wilde 'Football is ok for rough girls but it's hardly suitable for delicate boys'. Therefore, I have decided to concentrate on my real passions of drinking tea and studying the philosophers of ancient Greece.

My passions are drinking beer and ****ing, as long as the wife doesn't catch me. Why go now NMG? And if footy isn't your bag, how come you started up on here in the first place?

Strangely enough, I have just been doing some research on this man (Kant that is and not nomoregeardies) to assist my eldest son with his A level revision!

Damn. I have to reply to this as I have also studied Kant previously. I don't know if this will help MR RA but cant believed in the phenomenal and noumenal worlds. The former is the world we can see and touch eg everyday world. The latter is a world we can't see controlled by a deity. Samuel Taylor Coleridge based his poem The Rime of the Ancient Mariner on Kant's philosophy; the mariner kills the albatross for no reason and his ship is tossed from pole to pole by unseen mysterious forces (god or a deity) who is really upset at a man for killing one of his creations. At the end of the poem the mariner is a sadder but wiser man and presumably regrets killing the animal. The main point is Kant's unseen Noumenal forces in the world. Hope that helps your son in some way. What else can you tell me about Immanuel Kant btw? What have you come across whilst doing your research?

One of his questions was going to be broadly based around comparing/contrasting Kant's philosophy with traditional Christian teachings...I won't go into my conclusions regarding this (far too long-winded), but I will say that I believe he was a slightly disturbed man...

Kant was no more than another failed product of the Enlightenment - he was also well know as a real pissant who was very rarely stable...
