What, have you forgotten the rape allegations, his on-pitch hissy fits etc. If he's a good guy then i'm a ****ing angel.
That wins the prize for the most pathetic comment of the year. well done You obviously dont follow Arsenal very closely.
I've followed arsenal for over a decade, and not just from the sanctity of my armchair, unlike some (not naming names Jayram).
I am an idiot, i admit. I scored 30 in an IQ test, but you saying RvP is a good guy shows you're an idiot too. If he played for any other team you'd slate him all the time, he fouls defenders and gets away with it, he dives, he's a poor leader he sets a bad example to our younger players etc. No wonder this squad is weak mentally, when we keep giving the captaincy to the wrong person.
handbags lads. RvP has been the best Captain Arsenal have had for a few seasons now. He has experience, he's very well respected, and he's led by both example, and been vocal in the dressing room according to reports this year. To say he's anything other than one of the most important players in the team is ludicrous.
He's not even our best leader, both Vermaelen and Arteta have shown more than RvP. He just bitches to opponents, doesn't actually lead the team in any ****ing way.
whilst your entitled to your opinion, i'll respectfully disagree 100% with you on this one Arteta would never have been made captain in his first season, and is quite a quiet, unassuming character if you read / listen to his interviews. RvP is more vocal, and as such, i'd rather he was the leader. he knows the team and club inside out.
Captains don't need to bollock their players, it's just a myth surrounding the english game, if you look at foreign teams (who are typically better than us) their captains lead through example, not shouting. Our method is "Do as i say, not as i do" and it's bullshit and doesn't ****ing work.
Eh, don't really think having a different captain will make a difference. Captains are just figures more than anything, they don't really do much, and you don't need to be a captain to rally up players.
Because i disagree with your views? ****ing hell man, go and support spurs. Whatever happened to freedom of speech?
For an idea of what football is really about - watch this video. If its too long watch from 26:20 minutes.
Stupid comment - and i would suggest bringing up RVP's rape case, for which he was cleared, stating that he is a diver, and is a poor leader puts you firmly in the Spurs camp
Fabregas wasn't vocal. He wasn't a good Captain. Think of the great Arsenal Captains of recent times - Adams, Vieira. Were they vocal? Yes. Did they shout at people? Yes. Did they inspire? Yes. Did they also set an example with a never-say-die attitude? Yes. The method should be: do as I say, and I'll show you how to do - like Steven Gerrard.
I'm no more in the spurs camp than i am a member of mensa. I'd rather die of AIDS than support the spuds. Anyone can be cleared of a rape case, you wouldn't believe the number of victims paid to keep quiet, or paid change their story so they look like a liar.
Oh i see RVP paid them off..Hmm... interesting. Perhaps you should go to bed now, you are embarrassing yourself.
A) Making comments about AIDS is incredibly bad taste, and you should be ashamed of yourself for that. B) You wouldn't believe the number of false accusations made against rich superstars for any reason, because people believe they can get money out of them - the sad result of our society is it works both ways. If you disagree with Arsenal's policy of Captains, and their personnel, and their ethos, then why follow them? Serious question. I wouldn't follow something I didn't like.
