Adam I think you've just demonstrated why some of the lads aren't as enthusiastic about the National Team as they used to be.
Being of German decent on one side of my family, I should say Germany - but, the other side is English - England all the waythough it'd be better if Terry were dropped from the side
They met during the War, my Mum was a nurse and stationed in France and then Italy, the ole fella was a pilot and was with the RAF until he was shot down over Normandy and spent 4months in hospital recovering from his injuries, that's where Mum comes in! the stories they both can tell about those times makes my hair stand on end...
Brilliant story there Eddie, coincidentally, I was away at the weekend and on Sunday watched our match in the Minster Tavern next to Ely Cathedral. At 3.00pm there was a commemorative service to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the RAF's oldest squadron and a Spitfire did a flying display over the cathedral, we were joined in the pub after half-time by a bunch of RAF guys several who were Stoke supporters, had a great bit of banter...
It would be interesting to see how many "not supporting anyone" would get if it was included on the list. I must admit that I will find it very difficult to shout for the likes of Terry, Lampard, Cole,Rooney, Ashley Young, Gerard etc when they saunter out next month. To muster any kind of enthusiasm for this loathsome bunch of individuals will be very hard as much as I have always supported my country!!
Enjoyed reading this thread. Always supported England and will try to do so again, but very hard to muster much enthusiasm for the current team. This is the first international tournament for ages we've been in the premiership and watching the international players week in week out. When we were in the lower divisions these tournaments were a welcome distraction from Rehman, Bean etc but now it doesn't look so shiny, particularly when Woy can't pick any premier league foreigners! We'll do well to get out of the group.
Add to all that the fact that the last World Cup and a few Euro's recently have been appalling to watch. Entertainment wise, International football has gone down the tubes. The year Greece won it with their negative tactics was the final straw. (I'll still watch it though! How could you not!)
Despite not wanting to, of course I will have to watch England's games. Otherwise it will be the underdog or team playing best football on a match by match basis. Bit bored of Spain winning everything though.
