With all the talk of Mackie and Hill his situation has somewhat gone under the radar. What does everyone think? Sign or not? Personally I think we should sign him up for another year. He was awsome in the early part of the season, and if nothing else would be a great back up to Zamora - although judging on BZ performances HH should be ahead of him when fit at the moment. He has the brilliant ability to hang in the air and win headers - imagine Cisse running off of those knock downs.
I thought he'd already signed an extension earlier in the season? edit - Here it is - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/16354161 "Queens Park Rangers striker Heidar Helguson has signed a new one-year contract extending his stay until 2013. "
Don't agree with being too old. Still got a lot to offer, even though most likely as a sub. Great in the air and holds up the ball really well. Wouldn't have imagined saying it 2 seasons ago but would be sad to see him go.
My heart says keep him because he was superb this season before he got injured. Head and shoulders above all the rest in fact. But I voted to release him. We're moving to a new level now. Best of luck Iceman.
i think he has to make room for some one else. he has too many problems with injuries. we really need to build a stronger squad and i feel he is take the place of some on who could be around for a long time.
He's got the summer to get himself fully fit, could be a useful sub and squad member so I'd let him see his last year out...
I'd imagine he'd prefer first team football and after all he's done we shouldn't stand in his way. A year at Watford would probably suit all parties.
Probably up to him - he'd fit the role of substitute for those occasions where we need to bring on a battering ram-type forward rather than a silky-skills type. But if he'd prefer more starts, then he'll probably opt to move on - I can think of plenty of Championship teams that would snap him up - Warnock's Leeds for one.
If we're trailing 2-1 next season with 5 minutes left, we need to launch balls into the box and salvage something from the game, we look to the bench and see Bothroyd and Helguson waiting for their chance - which one do you choose? He's honest enough and will know when his body can't take any more but I'd keep him until then.
