Boooo! Don't get our hopes up with threads like this! All I can say in reply to the statement is "No Sh*t Sherlock"
Yes, reading between the lines - we, QPR, will wait to see what rope the FA give us before deciding whether it's long enough for us to hang the guy out to dry
I just wish we could get rid. JB does not represent the face of the club and owners. When NW brought him in I like most thought it was a good signing but in the back of my mind thought he was a 'loose cannon' waiting to go off. Joey bleeted on Twitter and the media that he was a changed man, is a father and a committed pro, sadly he has proved that he is a thug that will not change. He has let the club the fans and himself down. The sooner we get rid of this muppet the better.
I’ve criticised Barton all year to Liverpool game for poor on field performances but think your all over-reacting to this red card. It’s borne out of a long running media frenzy built on prejudice. FA will give him his punishment and he should get fined wages by the club as well. He reacted in the moment and got sent off. No need to bring up his past. Rugby players get away with far worse on a weekly basis however by contrast they are celebrated by the press (mainly middle class journos) because the rugby players and fans are also mainly middle class. However when a working class footballer with a nasty background does anything everyone piles in. Underneath it all the psychology behind the airy fairy moralist are delighted by the oppotunity to look down on the lowly working class thug that is Barton from their high horses. A perfect and example of differing treatment came day before the city game in match between Harlequins and Northampton. I'm not a rugby fan and only happened to be flicking through when mid way through second hal with scores tied a Harlequins forward (Meyler- i think) fore arm smashed a Northampton forward in the face while he was stationary standing over a ruck. Northampton bloke hit him back and penalty given against him. Harlequins took a penalty kick and just missed. This was in a semi final so stakes were equally high as our game. Commentator explicitly condoned the reaction of Northampton player who potentially cost his side a semi final it was understandable as 'retaliation is hard to avoid in heat of the moment'. Dylan Hartley coming back straight into England side after an 8 week ban for biting. Recently retired England International Lewis Moody (‘mad dog’ celebrated for his propensity to get into fights on the pitch. Footballers cant get away with these sort of things and Barton the working class thug is everyone’s favourite working class football thug to pick on. If he was middle class and a rugby player his on field altercations would be celebrated
One question will have to be the image of the club going forward We have had the worse record in recent Premiership history. I am sure this will be a factor that MH will address asap. We have won back some public opinion and I am guessing that as they grown our brand it will need to be very clean. Couple this with the fact that he is a very average footballer, for me it's a no brainer we should rebuild without him as this will happen again ... he is bad for the dressing room, bad for morale, bad for team spirit and hasn't exactly lead by example. If we sign Diakite we have the centre covered with Faurlin. I would break the bank and get Younès Belhanda at all costs now as he is a great player ... Taarabt, Cisse, Traore, Taiwo and Diakite all in effect French superstars.
It wasn't Joey's red card so much. It was the stuff after the red card in front of the official. To use your Harlequins analogy, if the player committing the offense had been penalised, perhaps sin-binned, and on the way to the sin bin, had kneed an opposing player to the ground, tried to headbut another and threatened a fight with another coming (admittedly agressively) off the bench...then I think a lengthy ban would have followed.
Rugby is Rugby and Football is Football two different sports that shouldn't be judged in the same light as each other when it comes to tackling, fouls and aggression on the pitch
For pro-Barton fans ignore what I am about to post... I'm 100% sure you will get rid. Just seeing Fernandes face on SSN and he couldn't hide his disappointment. TF wants a global brand and the most important thing about a global brand is having a good image, sorry but nobody would buy into what TF is trying to do with Barton at the helm
Exactly, in this NHL that wouldnt have even been a penalty, never mind a ban. I think we are looking to sack him, hes using his own solicitor which is unusual. We are just waiting for the FA result and then decide what to do/ Just think of the player we could sign with the £10+m left on his contract.
Whilst in no way condoning Barton's antics I can understand his frustration with the officials. Tevez had punched and kicked him and no action was taken. His elbow was not a knockout blow, Tevez made a huge meal of it and the rest, as they say, is history. The referee and officials cannot have seen Tevez's actions leading up to the elbow, as he was not booked, therefore, why has Tevez not been charged for his part in it? His actions up to the elbow incident were as serious as Barton's and he, by the letter of the law, should have been red-carded as well. No newspaper/commentator has mentioned Tevez's part in this. I believe Joey and his lawyer may actually get some change out of the FA for not dealing with Tevez as well. It's a measure of the low-life he is that he showed the 'Fergie R.I.P.' banner the following evening. Barton has burned his bridges with our fans as he lost it at a crucial time in our most important match of the season, he'll deserve whatever they give him but Tevez should be banned as well, too late as City benefited from the extra man for half an hour.
Totally agree and I think in no small part Bartons reaction to the red was being treated so differently again. He was on the wrong end if it against Norwich and then again with City (right decision but not consistent with tevez). Add into that millions of pounds and relegation at stake against your old club and knowing the media / fan fury to follow. I can almost understand...... But not condone. As ever I'd like to see a level playing field for all. The fact tevez hasn't been dealt with retrospectively sums it up.
Which makes me laugh at all the handbags in football. In NHL terms it would have been 2 mins for elbowing, 2 mins for diving on Tevez and 2 mins for diving with Aguero. We would have been a man up.
