http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18073446 Maybe now I can start liking Liverpool again. Great player, but not a nice character imo and a patchy manager too.
No real surprise here,Knackered. As you allude,he WAS a truly great player, but as a Manager, not too good. Now the merry go round can start in earnest. Could this interest Rodgers?
So Martinez to Liverpool. Lambert to Villa. Redknapp to Chelsea. Hodgson to England. That leaves Wigan, Norwich, Spurs and West Brom looking for new managers. And maybe Blackburn as well - Kean must be having his showdown with Venkys as we speak. Ooh err.
Martinez to Liverpool?? Can't see that to be honest, he has guaranteed job security at Wigan, and they are starting to click under the Martinez total football, no he won't go to Liverpool, no matter what the bookies state!............. PS: And lets be honest, the top three bookies favourite, are Martinez, Benitez, and Rodgers?? Silly season alright....
"guaranteed job security" in football management. Hmm. If Martinez has any chance of managing Liverpool,he should take it. He turned down Villa, and that was fair enough, but if the Liverpool owners come for him,and he says no,then he would miss out on leading one of the biggest Clubs in the game. If he has anything in him,he would be foolish to decline. That type of opportunity doesn't come around too often.
Sorry Vetch, but can't agree with that, Liverpool's American owners would have Martinez out far quicker than Dalglish!! just because a club is 'big' means diddly squat, besides Martinez and Rodgers have won nothing??..
Maybe Martinez is the favourite for the job but i reckon Brendan wont be to far behind as far as i,m concerned,I think a job like this could be right up his street and the city of Liverpool has always had close ties with Northern Ireland. I hope i,m barking up the wrong tree with my thoughts.
Don't really understand your last post Dragon. Let me paraphrase what I had posted. If Martinez were to be offered the job as Liverpool Manager,he should,in my opinion, take it. He may never get a better offer.
Martinez will get plenty of Managerial offers Vetch, but why take the Liverpool one, it's not far behind the Chelskie poisoned chalice!..................
Maybe he will, maybe he won't,nothing is guaranteed. It is certainly getting interesting on the Managerial front.
Martinez (and Rodgers) will always build teams to play a certain way, and need time and patience of boards. As Rodgers discovered at Reading, not all clubs will be patient. We and Wigan are, but the `bigger' clubs want a manager who can hit the ground running.
If offered the job , Rodgers would be a fool to take it & a fool not to .... The man's a fool no matter how you look at it !!
Rodgers made the right decision, and his comments in the Guardian show he's learnt from Reading, I'm well impressed this season with the way Rodgers conducts himself in front of the media, well done Brendan, pass some tips on to Huw please!...........
well said Phil, there is no "loyalty" anymore bar SAF with the big clubs, i am sure BR has made the right decision (at this early stage of his managerial career)
