Disagree mate. Who really expected him to turn it around in a year? Plus lets not forget Comolli was sacked so must have had a hand in the signings or why sack him. People would have celebrated Citys victory even if we were in third and close to the top two. Basically we will have a new manager and if he hasn't done it in a year we will sack him no? And then another and then another etc etc (anyone remember deadly Doug at Villa??). The managers job at Anfield used to be one of the securest in world football. We ALWAYS gave our managers time to get it right and this in itself helped the others at the club feel more secure. Rome wasn't built in a day but the ridiculous impatience will hurt us more than help. So....welcome Mr Martinez (or whoever)...enjoy your 12 month stay
Your probably right, he was never going to play the media game or bend over to the FA. They have a huge statement to send out with this management appointment though, the wrong man could destroy any hope of advancement
Please, not Martinez, and god forbid we get McLeish, Bruce etc. Hoping for somebody foreign, with a good head for transfers, and preferably CL experience. ...AVB? Rafa's got to be in the bookie's favourites too
Media stirring **** again. He will still be Liverpool manager at the start of next season...mark my words.
Surprise surprise!!! Only three days ago he was reported to have reacted angrily to reports he was set to leave Liverpool this summer after the campaign ended with a 1-0 defeat at Swansea. He then flew to Boston where John Henry gave him the chop! Martinez is supposed to be the favourite to take over, but Wigan fans will hope that is just an unfounded rumour.
WHy did his daughter just put on twitter something along the lines of "Devastated for dad, was a tough season #YNWA"? Stay in your little hole
They put the contract under his nose though Eric You may well be right about him being media savvy but I just hate any club who don't give a manager time (and I said the same after Woy left to be fair). Lets be honest had he won the FA Cup he'd have stayed and his media savviness makes no odds when you're winning things. Fergies always had a love/hate relationship with the media but he was never particularly media savvy when he first came in. And ultimately whether the decision is a correct one or not...the way the owners have gone about it is frankly disappointing IMO.
Grow a sense of humour. I was just provoking the GC wums. By the way I despise Twitter so why the **** would I use that to confirm any news.
