what about Sturridge? like merson said, how has carroll justified a place when he's played "well" for about four weeks at the end of the season? Downing? - shouldn't be allowed anywhere near our national team. No lennon? It's a joke. anyway, couldn't care less to be honest. I lost interest in England about 4 years ago. Hopefully Scott with get a slight injury that will rule him out so he can come home, fresh for our campaign next season. Another disappointing summer for our national squad... but what's new?
That's Hodgsons problem if he were to leave out players on the basis of their past England performances there would no Rooney, no Lampard, no Gerrard, no Milner, no Baines, no Walcott, no Downing and so on. The Team has not performed; he has to believe he can make a difference and that is what we have to see before all rushing to judgement on the basis of players picked.
How many of the squad deserve to be there, based upon either past performances for England or recent performances for their club, which you'd think were the criteria? In my opinion: Goalkeepers: Joe Hart (Man City), John Ruddy (Norwich) Defenders: Joleon Lescott (Man City), Gary Cahill (Chelsea), Ashley Cole (Chelsea), Leighton Baines (Everton) Midfielders: Gareth Barry (Man City), Frank Lampard (Chelsea), Scott Parker (Tottenham), Ashley Young (Man United) Forwards: Wayne Rooney (Man United), Just about enough for a team, but Ruddy's playing up top!
Gobsmacked. It's the same team who win **** all, all the time. Shocked about Lennon not being included. Johnson? Neville would have been a better choice.
The quick way to improve the squad... Goalkeepers: Joe Hart (Man City), Rob Green (West Ham), John Ruddy (Norwich) Defenders: Micah Richards (Man City), Phil Jones (Man United), Phil Jagielka (Everton), Joleon Lescott (Man City), Gary Cahill (Chelsea), Ashley Cole (Chelsea), Leighton Baines (Everton) Midfielders: Theo Walcott (Arsenal), Aaron Lennon (Tottenham), Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (Arsenal), Jack Rodwell (Everton), Gareth Barry (Man City), Nathan Dyer (Swansea), Scott Parker (Tottenham), Ashley Young (Man United), James Milner (Man City) Forwards: Wayne Rooney (Man United), Danny Welbeck (Man United), Andy Carroll (Liverpool), Jermain Defoe (Tottenham)
This squad is exactly why i dont bother with England...no matter who is manager....nothing EVER changes....same ol rubbish....fuk england i hope they get smashed......we will never win anything..no matter who is in charge...Fergie would have been much better off saying 'never in my lifetime' to England instead of City.
Indeed. Downing?? And no Lennon? Hodgson must still be suffering from delusion after his time with the Mousers! Still, one less of our players to get himself injured in yet another lost cause. Is Sturridge injured? If not, then why isn't he in there?
We should try to build a legacy instead of thinking we can win something...because england bloody cant......then again i think to myself...if this bunch is not picked then who would we pick? boring old ****ty squad.......theres no expectancy on Roy..he should have picked a young squad...but how stupid of me to have any form of expectancy when it comes to anything which has the FA behind them!
To be fair to Hodgson, he doesn't have enough time to tamper heavily with the squad. It's too late to try out lots of new things. In my opinion, he should've used this tournament to usher out the old guard and the Olympics to try out a number of the players that he's selected, plus some non-English talent, like Bale, Ramsey, Brunt, etc. Some of the selections are just baffling, though.
the Olymipc squad? does he have a say in that? i do agree with the time thing..im more inclined to think that he doesnt have too many choices......we are a dire nation when it comes to international quality....we are fast becoming the Aston Villa of international football..you know...once we had some potential..infact once we were even good.
But if by some miracle the team does do well (now, hang on a minute I'm making a very speculative point here, stop laughing), we might ask that considering its very similar players: (1) were previous managers rubbish; or (2) were the players simply not prepared to play for previous managers. Sadly I think (2) is more likely, particularly having seen what happened to AVB at Chelski. Which is wrong in any sense but even worse if you're talking about the national team.
if they dont perform for Roy it is his own fault for selecting idiots who delibertly stopped performing for thier club in order to get rid of AVB.....yet happily picking up their wages.....i personally would never support any player that jepordised my clubs success due to their lack of professionalism....once again...sounds about right for a club full of racist idiots and criminals.
