I wish Crouch had gone because I think he has an amazing goalscoring record for England is second to none. Not sure why Downing has gone or Carrick has been excluded.
Purely the alleged racism I was talking about Beef. Roy is allowed to use the "innocent until proven guilty" argument provided it is as I said above. Anything other than that and it's basically showing every black player in this country the middle finger by selecting him. It's an issue that must be addressed and addressed in this press conference.

Although i agree Terry shouldnt be going purely cos he is an arsehole, i dont think ferdinand who is regularly injured should go either, jagielka would have been a better choice. why anyone thinks Downing is any good after the season is beyond me, never rated him and hope to god he stops playing for england after this tournament. I believe with lack of time to check out players and read scouting reports Hodgson has just picked from those who helped England get to the tournament and then (I HOPE!!) he will start to evolve the team to a youthful spirited team.
Well, first of all, I wouldn't have taken either anyway. However, because Terry has essentially been found "guilty" through youtube footage, his change of arguments and the statements made by players of both teams on the pitch at the time, his inclusion over someone related to the player who was abused can surely only be viewed negatively by the black community (not just players)? Of course, the change in arguments and other statements made are simply what was reported in the press and we all know how reliable they are, but the fact is, a very large percentage of people do believe what they read in the papers, particularly if it is supported by images they can see for themselves coupled with sufficient evidence for the CPS to press charges - something they would not have done lightly. I wouldn't have Terry anywhere near an England shirt and I said on here many months ago that if he went to the Euros, I'd be supporting someone else. I will now be supporting someone else as he sure as **** doesn't represent me.
I agree that I would prefer not to have him near an England shirt again, purely because he is not worthy of it and is becoming more of a liability every game. The whole affair has been poorly handled too. I do disagree that black players would feel alienated however, because let's face it - Hodgson isn't stupid. He'll have his reasons no doubt.
No Peter Crouch is a huge mistake. He's our best goalscorer at international level. How the hell the likes of Downing (0 goals, 0 assist, 3 pens missed for L'pool), Welbeck, Defoe, Carroll, Phil Jones get the nod over other players who could be there I'll never know. Lambert is on another planet than the likes of Welbeck, Carroll, Defoe Jagielka and Lescott kept a clean sheet together against Spain and Jagielka isn't even in the squad! Ridiculous
Micah Richards Out ??? Crimany! Downing, Barry and Terry In? Disgrace, he wants England fans to back him and he picks a horrendous team. Henderson being on the back up list is also a massive joke! I would have Richards and move to Jones into a Midfield position to take Barry's place. Downing should not be allowed to wear an England shirt so have him out and replace him with either Adam Johnson or Jarvis.
Well Hodgson is renowned for getting his defence in order, so I am sure he will have picked the best defensive minded players available. Presumably why Richards has missed out and under Capello's stewardship. Interesting to hear the English FA coming out and saying how important they think Jones will be! Welbeck has impressed me when I have seen him. He is quick powerful and can lead the line so in Rooney's absence I think he is the best we have.
This selection has shocked me a little bit, but we have to remember that they are all good players, and Hodgson will hopefully be quite good at getting the best out of them. It seems he's picked them based on the ability he knows they have, rather than the form they've been in. Obviously Johnson, Downing and Carroll have been poor all season, but maybe that's just because they play for a **** team. They could play better for England. The thing I'm happiest about is the inclusion of Chamberlain, but like most of you I'm very disappointed that Crouch won't be going.
There is a lot of comments about Terry and racism on here, however the biggest concern is the racism at the Euros from hooligan factions plus the fact that the leader of the opposition has been arrested and refused overseas treatment, that is more of a worry than the issues our media are trying to stir up.
First thing i have to say is to not include Adam Johnson and Peter Crouch is a joke. To also put Henderson on the standby list ahead of other much better player is questionable. Saying that i believe that the inclusion of the OX is a potential masterstroke. Yes he is young but he has experienced big games and could well be just the asset England need. Finally i will not watch a single game of this euro's if i hear that downing is starting. He is, and always has been crap. Rant over

Why is not including Adam Johnson a joke - he has hardly started for city this year and often been criticised for his failure to apply himself. I understand your frustration at the exclusion of Crouch (who I would have picked), however I suppose the argument for picking Downing is that he has played quite well in his last few games for England even if he has had a very poor season for Liverpool.
