No need to change a winning team. England haven't had a settled team for a long time and I think we need one to achieve our potential. We can pretty much write off the Euros. Hodgson's rebuilding challenge starts afterwards. He needs to pick his team and work on it until the next World Cup. Changes can be made, but revolutions and pointless tokenism are out, so a bit of care needs to be taken. Will the old guard still be up to it in 2014? Much of it probably not, so they're out. We start with what Hodgson's instincts tell him and then gradually give and take until we end up with what is universally considered the best team.
It appears Ferdinand will be overlooked, Kyle Walker will miss out injured (big shame) and John Terry WILL, I REPEAT WILL be included
Glad if Carroll's in, excited by seeing Zamora take on Europe's best (not...).Guess this means Crouchy's not on the plane? Not long til we find out, get excited, agitated and the rest of it.
Richards and Carroll should go, Zamora really shouldn't - he's crap. Ferdinand is set to be left out as well which I'm pleased to see - gives players like Cahill, Jones a chance.
Have you seen Carroll this season? Bloody hell, Hodgson can't go picking him based on a few good games at the tail end of the season - I'm peeved he's been picked
Well this is what happens when the FA change manager months before a tournament giving the new man no chance to view his players together prior to his final selection. I think we have to give Hodgson the benefit of the doubt until we see what happens. However, it seems ridiculous if Capello was deposed for sticking up for Terry and then he is selected.
I suppose we have to accept that Hodgson has had a whole season to assess all these players when aying against West Brom. We won't agree with a lot of the picks but will have to give him the benefit of the doubt.
Here's an interesting thing (or not). This is the 'EA Sports' squad based on current form/stats provided by the Premier League. Goalkeepers: Joe Hart (Man City), Ben Foster (West Brom), John Ruddy (Norwich) Defenders: Danny Simpson (Newcastle), Kyle Walker (Spurs), Leighton Baines (Everton), Ashley Cole (Chelsea), Joleon Lescott (Man City), John Terry (Chelsea), Rio Ferdinand (Man Utd), Shawcross (Stoke) Midfielders: Theo Walcott (Arsenal), Matt Jarvis (Wolves), Matthew Etherington (Stoke), Ashley Young (Man Utd), Danny Murphy (Fulham), Frank Lampard (Chelsea), Gareth Barry (Man City), Michael Carrick (Man Utd) Strikers: Wayne Rooney (Man Utd), Danny Wellbeck (Man Utd), Grant Holt (Norwich), Danny Graham (Swansea)
I think I would change Sturridge for Walcott. Walker won't be there due to injury so Johnson will most likely be called up. Parker is a maybe, if he doesn't go I could see Rodwell taking his place.
If Richards doesn't go then lets not even bother going. Himself and Walker are our best right backs by far.
Rumours circulating that Richards, Jagielka and Crouch aren't included and Simpson, Zamora and Shawcross are. Just rumours though probably
