Lfc fan in peace here, With our current situation being that depending on which rumour you listen to we may or may not be looking for another manager, and whilst i do not think you guys will be looking for another manager for a while yet, I was curious on how you guys percieved the possibility of Ryan Giggs being the Man U manager. At first I thought that it was a bad idea but after nearly 25 years SAF has produced a number of managers all quite respectable. Giggs as been with him for a long time, would you guys see that as a good natural progression or is it too much without working through other jobs. Other jobs may destroy the image of Giggs if he was unsuccessful meaning he could never progress to the job. All the usual names are cropping up for us but Jamie Carragher was a new one which was what got me thinking, thats all.
Jones. De Gea. Bebe. Smalling. Hernandez. Berbatov. Anderson. Carrick. They were a bit more than 100 combined weren't they?
If Fergie left tomorrow, which I'm sure he won't, I'd like to see Laurent Blanc get offered the job. He's the only former player of ours who's done well enough as a manager to make me think he would do a good job
PHP: Cheers king shergar, Should not have attmpeted this really better off talking to my boss. He a utd fan, was genuinely curious to see if you guys would take Giggs, like I said wondering whether carra a good or bad idea for us, not to sure about this being a number two thing before manager. Btw Gary Neville might not be such a stupid suggestion, he appears to have good sound tactical knowledge, and will command respect with current players as he has been very successful very recently. As for his hatred of LFC that is not such a bad thing in a Man U manager, would love our team to show that kind of passion at the moment. Ps we will be back Sorry couldnt resist
Been impressed with Ole.Can he come into the Premiership and manage a big club though.Would love to see it but don't think he's ready for us yet.
Solskjaer has done a great job at Molde but I'd like to see him prove himself more in one of Europes top leagues before I'd want to see him as our manager.* Laurent Blanc on the other hand proved himself in the French league, winning the title with Bordeaux, which certainly isn't easy with the likes of Lyon, PSG and Marseille's spending power being far great than Bordeaux.* He's now managing France, and has done well there topping there Euro qualifying group, and beating the likes of Germany, Brazil and even ourselves in friendly's.* Name me another former player of ours who has done aswell as Blanc has? *
Ryan Giggs as manager would simply not work, he probably does not have the relevant coaching badges. If Giggs him self was seriously thinking about becoming the next United manager then he would probably leave united as a player and become a coach in the academy or reserves and build his experience for that but he has left it too late as he is staying on as a player for another year. As for Neville, being a good pundit for Sky does not mean that he could become a good manager. Sat in a studio analysing a game is completely different to managing a bunch of egos and getting them to perform week in week out. Some have mentioned Solskjaer where is in charge of Norwegian side Molde. For him to be considered for the United job, he needs to make the step up to a bigger European side and see how he does from there. Another ex United player Blanc who is manager of the French national side and managed Bordaux and he was successful there winning the league in his 2nd season. The frontrunners for me will be Mourinho, Moyes, O Neill, Pep and it will be interesting to see who we bring in after a couple of years when the gaffa does retire.
Mourinho is the only one for me that could take over and make a success of it at United as his own ego is bigger than our respective clubs put together I would love to have him at Liverpool tho. Pep could be good but not sure whether Utd would be his sort of project, you prob wont like this but with all the development at the Etihad and limitless funds I could see him going there. No doubt that Moyes is a great manager, however in terms of massive egos etc he is no guarantee for success, i hope you get O Neil as for some strange reason, me personally I just do not rate him. Blanc def a good shout too. The pressure your next manager will be under when it finally arrives will be huge so you will need someone good to deal with that pressure, do you reckon SAF will hang around in the shadows or give it a clean break?
