I'm still not convinced by Martinez. He is consistently battling relegation and more worrying is the fact they perform terribly for most of the season only to hit top form at the crunch end. Teams like WBA and Swansea have less resources but still manage to perform better.

I agree, Martinez would be a huge risk but you could say that about most potential managers. I'm all for Kenny to stay but if there was a change I'd go for Brendan Rogers or AVB.

The first choice is someone who I believe is an up and coming manager who will manage at the top level one day and we would be getting him early. AVB is talented and that has not changed, he wasn't given time at Chelsea and I think again that he is a talented manager who will go on to manage big clubs.

I do like Martinez but as you say, he's a risk. But I don't think it inspires confidence and ambition if we went for him. Another relegationg battling manager taking over.

And I agree about AVB - he was up against a complete nob of an owner as well ageing senior players who are stuck in their ways. Still a good manager. I would like to see him or Rafa back - both free agents, rather than spending another £10m getting in somenoe else.

Financially Rafa or AVB would make sense, I just have a feeling that Rogers is destined to be a great manager. He handles the press well, seems clever tactically and the football is brilliant very Barca like but not afraid to go direct at times.

Hiring a low to mid table manager like Martinez is an accident waiting to happen.

Our global popularity is dwindling fast and hiring a nobody is going to do nothing to help this, regardless of his successes with Wigan. He also seems to have "Moyes Syndrome" where his team can only perform in the second half of the season.

When we hired Rafa, he had just broken up the Madrid Barca monopoly in Spain twice in a row with Valencia. With similar criteria, I'd like to see us look at bringing in Rudi Garcia from Lille, never been a fashionable team over there, especially compared to Marseille, Bordeaux and Lyon, but he's more or less established them as champions league qualifers there.

I have a lot of respect for managers like Martinez, Rodgers and Holloway - they try to play positive football. I commend them for it. And whilst I believe that all three will have good careers ahead of them, I feel they are just too big a risk at the minute. Either they progess naturally to a bigger club e.g. from Swansea to Aston Villa and then move onto an even bigger job (LFC), or they work as a number two at LFC so they can grow accustomed to the big pressure, expectation and how to handle stars.

Our appeal to the better players in the world is slowly diminshing each year that we fail to qualify for the CL or compete in the league. Having an experienced, top class manager would be more beneficial to us as they are more recoginised and players WANT to play for him. I can't see many European talents recognising Bredan Rodgers and wanting to play for him? This may not be the case but it's the impression I get.

Can't believe how much AVB has been mentioned by some people. Have you forgotten about Lampard and Drogba etc? He needs to go back to a smalltime club.

You have a point but once players saw Liverpool playing like that then they may change their mind, I could be way off here but just have a feeling that he will end up at a big club, he's also very good with the players and press a very good all round manager.

All speculation anyway I don't think there will be any changes unless things don't start well next season.

I think Lampard and Drogba were the problem, they just wouldn't accept his methods maybe a little like us and Roy. However AVB is a good manager he won every trophy he played for as Porto manager and they finished the league undefeated.

Jurgen Klopp of Dortmund anyone? Although, leaving German league and cup champions with champions league football again might be hard.

I would definately be happy with him. This is the type of manager we should be targetting (if we are looking for a replacement for Kenny). Not some mid/lower table who has had 1 good season or a good couple of months (Martinez).

Just like potential signings, I want players/staff who are experienced at competing under pressure, biggish clubs, have the winning mentality, maybe even won a few cups or leagues in their native country. Just something to suggest that the guy is here to win.

Would love to get Jurgen Klopp, but unless United, City and Madrid dismantle their side as much as has been speculated, can't imagine him leaving them for us in this state.

Also: No German has ever managed in the premier league.

Alan Curbishley has not managed for a few years, maybe a surprise contender?

Be careful what you wish for you manc twat, once Fergie goes you'll have Moyes or Allardyce as your manager.

Hahaha, please don't threaten me like that, I'm going to have nightmares of Big Sam managing at Old Trafford now!

But I agree with most of the other posters, it's a big risk if you were to have Martinez or someone similar as your next manager, it's a big step up and it could end up as another Hodgson situation. Personally though I think AVB would be great for your club, your senior players don't seem to have massive ego issues like the Chelsea ones do, and they play for their club more than they do for themselves. You don't see Carragher throwing his toys when he's being used as a squad player, whereas the Chelsea lads stopped performing and undermined their manager...
