i can see why, he'd be a good choice for you. lambert would be a tough act to follow as for me he's in the top 5 managers in this country, i've said i think he should have got manager of the year too but malky wouldnt come cheap, it would probably be a £1m + release fee or probably more seeing as he signed a new deal in february
Hasn't really proved himself yet and fans are divided. The brand of football he has chosen to play would not be everybody's preferred choice, and won't bring the crowds flocking in over the long term. Whether that brand of footie was forced on him due to limited options we won't know until he's had a summer to sign the players he wants. He would be a massive gamble for you - and won't come cheap.
That is the nature of the trickle down effect of a big clubs manager being sacked. I'm sure MM will be on their list. We've currently got bigger problems imo, but I'd still hope that we keep MM for at least 1 more season. Is Norwich to Villa the step up it once was? They don't seem to have any money at all and their squad is rubbish. Mcleash seemed to have to use half the youth team for most of last season. Wouldn't be surprised to see Lambert turn the job down unless they promise some decent funds for players.
on a side note, aston villa would be a sidewards step. the only thing they can offer lambert which could better his lot would be to double his wages. aston villa wont be in the top half of the table next season, or the season after that IMO. if he waits better jobs will come up.
To be honest I am not entirely convinced that Villa would be a good move for Lambert. The general consensus on our board is that they would like Malky.Could be heart rather than head I suppose.
that said, however good i think he is (and i think he's an outstanding manager) we've seen before that managers stock fluctuates madly. one minute coyle is the next big thing then he's relegated. one moment mcleish is getting birmingham to the top half then they're relegated and no-one gives a crap about him. same thing with steve bruce, mark hughes in the past. villa are a bigger club, but norwich are in a better place at the moment.
Villa are a much bigger club than Norwich. Saying that Martinez decided to stay with Wigan. Cardiff and Norwich could easily swap places next season.
As an outsider looking in. I'd advise Lambert to stay where he is, Villa are not in the best of hands and Norwich are a much better club. I guess it depends on what type of person Lambert is and what his ambitions are in the game.
Villa is a bit of a curse really. The fans turned on O'Neil pretty quickly, I thought. Not sure MM is PL quality yet, but then I could say that about a few managers who have done alright. I thought Pardew was a poor choice at Newcastle, then he ends up manager of the year and deservedly so.
It's probably a measure of how well Malky was thought of at Carrot Rd as much as his achievements since. We all thought that he was rather badly treated by Worthington ditching him when we got into the Prem,as much by Malkie's efforts as anyones.Anyway, with or without him good luck next year.Gutted you didnt do The Hammers over.
