    'Khaldoon reveals mind games strategy:
“I remember talking to Roberto after we lost at Arsenal, just the two of us, and we both looked at each other and had this moment ‘let’s take it one step at a time, we can still pull it off, but let’s take the pressure off everyone, the players’.
“That was a tough loss but we still had five games left to go and if we could win them all, with a bit of luck, we could still pull it off. I think Roberto did a magnificent job in easing the pressure off the entire team and managing through one of the most amazing turnarounds, not just in football, but in sport.”'

Did Mancini conceding the title make United apathetic v Everton and Wigan?

No. The league is over and time to move on and start preparing for next season.

No more like stupid defending by the likes Evra and Rio than the genius of Roberto.

Yes. Fergie had a "keegan" moment when City best them. He lost it big style and is still throwing the toys out the pram.

You would think he was 7 the way he acts.

Was thinking about this the other day.I don't think it worked on Fergie but it did on the players(City & Utd).I think most of our newer players thought we had it won an were busy visualising the parade.City players had nothing to lose so pressure was off them.

we lost the league, now we're looking for next season, we don't want to discuss about city now, well done to them but we don't give any **** whether Mancini's mind games worked or not, the league's been lost, we must get over it, we're looking for next season.

mancini's mid games obviously relaxed his players.

Which United players in particular got complacent?

Complacency and unprofessionalism cost United the league. Everton and Blackburn, anyone?

I think it helped take pressure off his players but I don't think it had any affect on Man Utd. We'd shown far too much complaceny all season, long before Mancini's "mind games" and especially in Europe.

Add that to the fact you won diddly squat and got turfed out two European competitions because you weren't good enough.

I agree with Berb. His "we have no chance" speeches fired up his players to prove him wrong, and it served to take the pressure of them, and they responded accordingly. But I do not believe it affected our players, we have too many experienced players (& Fergie) that would not allow our players to get complacent. Poor performances cost us, and they've been scattered throughout the season.

To take my mind of things I started reading Fergie's Auto-Bio.Interestingly when he was at Rangers and Celtic were a point behind Jock Stein(Celtic manager) conceded the title with a few games to spare.Rangers lost their last game and Celtic won theirs giving them the title.Fergie said it was a lesson he would never forget.
I still keep thinking "why didn't he kill the game with Everton off with 8mins to go"..Oh well...:emoticon-0101-sadsm

Nowt to do with mind games. All to do with the relative depth, strength and balance of the Squads, and Citeh's is miles better on all counts.

Fergie did tremendously well to take it to the wire. Even his genius won't be enough from now on though...

Up to the Glazers, either they take on the challenge and give SAF all the money he needs, or they concede a period in the shadows.

    Gaza, you are kidding yourself.

If the two squads remained unchanged, and went into next season, a 12-15 point gap would ensue.

The only mind game that was in play, was removing 44 years of failure in the Top Flight. That done, with the talent available, and the new found(and merited) confidence, this United Squad have no chance of competing, and you only have to look at David Gill's & SAF's comments to see they know it. Financial Fair Play? Desperate!

    You are correct.
    &
That was the end of it.

However, it is the beginning of something quite different.

Happy to take your money if you'd like a little bet or three.
