Have you visited St Peters when the organ is playing Sweep?

The Vox gravissimas, I think they are called, go right through you.

Meowth, if you're going to include HORNDEAN Special Bitter as a Portsmouth beer, then maybe Old Thumper(Ringwood) could be allowed for Southampton. After all, according to SB we're all Forest folk!

HSB... halfway through my modest half pint I realised I felt REALLY different - it's never happened since.

Know how you felt. I couldn't find an appropriate bottom dwelling fish, so settled for this...

http://www.fishbrewing.com/ ... to be fair, it looks OK.

All these beer related posts must be making 3rd eye a bit bitter, having started an interesting Pompey-Fact related thread. All these posters seem to have him over a barrel as they brew up yet more ale-house answers.

I may sound like I'm wining a bit here, but I wonder if 3rd eye would decant a few more facts from his Pompey Grapevine?

Or will he just gin and beer it?

I love the way these threads go meandering off in totally different directions. But CF was correct, the thread title should have read 50 Pints <ok>

    Why, thank you 3rd IPA!

What I find odd is all these shores. Can anyone shed any light on these shores?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't India pale ale was so called because it had a distinct mellow taste, due to being gently rocked in it's firkin, on the high seas during the journey east.

Cottoned on to this thread a little late! The Newport Inn- what a place. The landlady took it over from her father 68 years ago! She's 97 now and still going strong- well relatively speaking! Their plowmans are a thing of wonder. The beer is OK (London Pride or Seafarers) well worth the odd foray into 'injun' country every now and again.
The Hampshire Bowman is now selling mostly Bowmans Ales- brewed a couple of miles away from the pub and what a lovely selection of beers they offer. 'Swift One' is my very own pint of choice before every home game.

I have a feeling, my first purchased pint of Mild was....believe it or not, in Scumhampton!! I think it was in a pub possibly called The Black Dog in the Freemantle area back in 1974 whilst waiting for the doors to open at the Gaumont for a Hawkwind or Sabbath gig. I think I paid in the region of 15p!! You could smell your way to the Gaumont (now Mayflower) from the fragrance of various substances being smoked in the queue. Ahhh....those were the days! <double>
