I'm glad the club decided to say they don't respond to rumours, been on pins and needles all day waiting for an answer like but these day Twitter has turned into a major news outlet, you have major legitimate (and not so legitimate) media outlets reporting stories based on nothing more than a faceless person starting a rumour on a anonymous social network. I swear half the articles written these days have some mention of twitter or facebook
Tony Barrett of The Times Kenny Dalglish has returned to Merseyside following talks with Liverpoolâs owner, Fenway Sports Group (FSG), in Boston. The Liverpool manager travelled to Massachusetts yesterday along with Steve Clarke, his assistant, and met with John W Henry and Tom Werner, the clubâs principal owners, as part of an ongoing review into Liverpoolâs performance last season. As planned, Dalglish flew back to Heathrow after the meeting had ended, while Clarke remained in Boston where he accompanied Henry and Werner to Fenway Park to watch the Boston Red Sox record a comfortable 6-1 win over the Seattle Mariners. Contrary to speculation that surfaced following the summit, Dalglish did not resign and nor was he sacked with the outcome of the talks being a mundane acceptance from all parties that the process of reviewing the season will continue. Henry and Werner are seeking an explanation for Liverpoolâs shortcomings during a disappointing campaign which culminated with them finishing in eighth place in the Premier League. The duo are also looking to Dalglish and Clarke to provide a vision of how they will revitalise the clubâs fortunes. Having already dismissed Damien Comolli from his role as director of football and a number of other senior executives, FSG have demonstrated that they will not shirk at making big decisions but they will know that removing Dalglish, a hugely popular figure amongst Liverpoolâs support, would be another matter entirely. For his part, Dalglish continues to plan for the future by scouting and targeting the players who he believes will help spark the kind of improvement that Liverpoolâs owners are looking for. But until the review is concluded it is impossible to say with any great certainty that Dalglish will be in a position to put those plans into practice.
What Tony is also saying in that though is that they havnt made there decsion yet, they have got concluded there review process , FSG seeing Kenny and Clarke is just the 1st part of that Someone else on twitter is saying that FSG have offered Kenny the move upstairs, and Kenny has declined it, FSG have gone awy to think
You Liverpool fans need to stop living in the past as Dalglish is too old school. If you want to move forward you need a good manager like Martinez who will bring exciting football and improve your team. Dalglish needs to go wake up YES he is a hero for you lot but times have changed but he hasnt.
So he should decline that offer (if true), he either goes or remains as manager. Having a DoF that was the previous manager (who you have moved on because he wasn't good enough) is a huge hindrance on a new manager. I've heard that idea so many times that I doubt how true that rumour is (even people suggesting it on here)
Kevin Sampson Twitter ( author of a few LFC books ) FSG offered Kenny the dreaded move upstairs. Kenny said nah, I'm fine where I am. Ball back in FSG's court
Honest question guys I know you've been mocked this season and everything but wouldn't you like to see kenny given a second chance. I mean it's disgraceful the frequency with which managers are sacked. I know many will disagree but I think we've done well sticking with arsene
Its hard to see how anyone could have done more at Arsenal than Wegner given the resources given. Arsenal have stayed were they are mainly due to a consistent structure. Tottenham have hugely benefited from sticking with a a manager (and holding onto players) whilst others (us and Chelsea) have gone on the management merry-go-round. Sacking managers does not work
One would hope that the 'review' inlcuded that we need to buy players this summer and that the owners shouldnt cheap out now just cause things didnt go to plan straight away.
Page_Moss_Kopite - so what im a swindon fan does that mean i dont know what im talking about as you are premier league and were not. Football has changed drastically and you have to remember any american owner is ruthless as they are in it to make money they dont care about carling cup wins its league positions and Champions league they want. I like Dalglish as he was a great player but i dont think he is the right guy to move your club forward. Someone like Martinez would be a fantastic manager and you would play some great football under him. You need to move forward not back. There are too many old hangers on at your club.
It means you dont know jack **** about Kenny or his relationship with our club, and are you Roberto Martinez's ****ing agent?. And funnily enough the game has changed so much he got us to two cup finals winning 1,there are only 3 domestic trophies on offer per season and we won 1. "to many old hangers on"? Name them?
Isn't it funny that the only Liverpool manager opposing fans don't slate is Hodgson and these same people slate us for not giving him enough time
