What a ****ing mug! How can he stick up for Wayne Rooney, saying that since he has apologised then that should be the end of it. **** off, if anyone else was swearing at the camera in an aggressive fashion like that they would be done!

Have some ****ing balls for once FA! They won't ban him for 3 games, as that would mean he would miss the semi final against Man City and they can't have that can they?

If that was Barton, his 6 match ban would have been upheld straight away! I hate football when it comes to things like this, Rooney is untouchable, we saw that a few weeks ago!

Pallister is then saying that it was the referee's decision not to send off Vidic(foul after foul, one of them being last man) and that he probably got it right! Piss off!

The FA would make 98% of football fans in this country happy if they just banned Rooney, he gets away with far too much!

    Rant over.

I was talking with the missus about this last night and if a TV presenter had done that they'd be sacked ASAP and their career would be in tatters.

Rooney knew what he was doing and it's not a heat of a moment reaction. He sought out the TV camera and swore at it.

Fine him, ban him and make an example of him.

The FA won't ban him though.

And have the wrath of AF? He'd blow a fuse or choke on his chewing gum if they took action against his little boy.

See the Man Utd PR machine is in full swing.

Rooney wouldn't know what half those words mean.

I tend to agree with you, Badger Leases.

Unfortunately, Alan Shearer said exactly the same as Pallister on MOTD. Does that make him a ****ing mug too?

Had he swore just the once like "****ing come on" I could agree and say heat of the moment, but the fact he went on to say "**** you" as well suggests he had time to think about what he was doing.
The argument that footballers swear on the pitch, yeah you can see the mouth going etc but can be lost in the sound of the crowd.
The fact he got up close to the camera and did it so blatant and audable.

Should be banned for minimum 3 games.

Drogba got a 4 match ban for his comments to camera in their champions league match, the same should apply here.

Shearer sticking up for him annoys me as well, anyone sticking up for him annoys me. Yes?

This is what I thought as soon as I heard the statement. I doubt if that imbecile can even spell his own name.

I don't see why, when I am sitting in my lounge with my kids watching a football match, they should be subjected to that kind of behaviour. Don't get me wrong, at 10 and 13 years of age they know all the swear words, but seeing a so called hero/role model behave like that is not something that I want them to see.

I know that everytime Rooney gives away a foul or fails to get the decision from a referee, the Sky camaras zoom in on him to show pictures of him reacting and swearing at the ref, but this time he made the decision to speak into the camara, just like he did in the world cup.

I would like to see a one match ban imposed, he could sit next to his boss in the stands.

I think one match would be fair tbh, but would love it to be 3 as he would miss the game against us.

The Rooney incident was discussed on Sunday Supplement on Sky yesterday, the general consensus was he should not get a match ban, he should get an appropiate fine depending on his wages. They thought footballers should sign an agreement, and they kept referring to it as a sort of swear box. Another point raised, something that I agreed with, nothing will change as long as Alex Ferguson is in charge at Man Utd. Neither the club nor the FA are prepared to take him on and he is allowed to do as he pleases.
I do not care for Rooney as a person, so I try to be too judgemental but I don't think he's a great footballer either, I literally cringe when I hear Ferguson defend "The boy".

  15. I don't think he should be banned, but he should have been banned for that elbow in the Wigan player's face.

It's a bit of a difficult one this, I can't ever remember another player doing this so there's no real yardstick. The FA banned Robbie Fowler for four games when he celebrated a goal by pretending to snort the byline (which was quality I might add), I'd say Rooney's is comparable. Will the FA ban him though? Will they ****!

It's pointless fining players like Rooney since he's on an overinflated wage to match his ego a fine would be like loose change to him.

Hit the team where it hurts, ban him. A standard needs to be set. As Simonbh7 said most kids have heard people swearing, I've got a 12 year old son and he knows not to swear around adults at least cause you know around their mates they'll do it.
But seeing ape boy playing in a lunch time KO spouting off into the camera like that only encourages kids to do it all the more.
You need to draw a line under it somewhere.

I think he should be banned...I was watching MOTD2 - Lee Dixon said any swearing at the referee should be punished - who is the worst for this hands down?

    Wayne Rooney!

I understand entirely swearing in frustration or even in celebration: 90% of the Man U fans were probably screaming the exact same thing as him, but to actively shout down a camera, not once, twice but three times - Ban him without a doubt!

My flat mate is a United fan and he suggested he should be fined £100,000 - A lot of money yes, but if you were at work, went up to the CCTV cameras and started shouting for your boss to **** off - being fined 2 and a half days wages is an absolute farce!
