I fully concur with the latter part of your statement. I predict midtable mediocrity - again - with some great matches as well as some shockers

That's a bit of a sweeping statement. What evidence is there that this has happened before, and more importantly, under what circumstances? e.g if Grayson had already blown the budget, I could understand it. But why would Bates block a good player & then let Grayson sign Vayrynen at a cost of ~£500k? Doesn't make sense. By all accounts, Pearce is a good player. Why hasn't his signing been blocked by Bates? Your statement is far too sweeping. Basicaly, it's a load of bollox as it stands.

this marking out of the game thing is bang on the money. Not even Howson so much, but since Gradel went Snodgrass has been helpless. They were both untouchable at their best - any team can handle one, no team can handle both. Not even Arsenal could handle both.

Gradel provided the balance on the other side, and them constantly switching will have been a massive mind **** for full backs who'll have just burnt out trying to keep up.

Seems last summer all we needed was to improve the defence. Instead we did nothing to the defence and let the attack get decimated by "well we've got to sell to buy" rubbish.

Because unfortunately that's what bates is like. His decisions rarely make sense and half the time he says "no" it's a default response caused by his natural tendency for confrontation. I guarantee he'll just say no for the sake of causing confrontation half the time. Narcissistic personality disorder.

Is this really what we have fallen to? People justifying the sale of one of our few good players, and saying he is easily replacable. Have these fans considered the replacements (or lack of) for Gradel, Howson, Johnson?- Townsend <doh> Delph and Varynen <doh>. Now it looks asif we may lose Snodgrass, White, Clayton and maybe even Mccormack! No way will these players be adequately replaced. Why can we not hold on to these players and then add to them like any other club looking to progress?

    -----------------Schmeichael
    Ward-----Pearce------------Lees----New LB (Hill?)
    --------Clayton-----------Johnson
    Snodgrass--------Howson------------Gradel
    -----------------Becchio

With Mccormack, Brown, White and a few more decent squad players on the bench.

That team could acheive promotion quite comfortably and would have been entirely realistic if we had one scrap of ambition!

Ive tried to be positive for too long but i can do it anymore.

I'm not having that Marko. Again, it's opinion presented as fact. you have no evidence of this.

Because, Logi, we've got to sell to buy, despite having far more money than clubs spending similar amounts who DON'T have to sell to buy and still manage to challenge at the top. Southampton, Reading, Blackpool, all examples.

His business history and the fact he missed out on a few million quid of government payout he was entitled to because he argued the toss for the sake of arguing the toss instead of doing the research.

It's not opinion presented as fact, his behaviour screams narcissistic personality disorder and people with it argue for the sake of arguing because it means they don't have to admit fault.

It looks like opinion presented as opinion to me.

Well of course I have no proof, but I don't believe my opinion on this matter is far off the mark.

Seriously, have you completely missed the last 7 years? Have you not read the court reports from the last few weeks? He'll confront people for the sake of confrontation. He causes conflict for the sake of it. I don't believe for a second that he wouldn't say no to signing a player on a whim.

I'd imagine Warnock seems to be succeeding because on the occasions bates says no on a whim, Warnock will stand up to him and treat him like the massive baby that he is and will eventually get his wish.

Guarantee is rather more than an opinion, Elmo. In fact, the whole post could find Marko on the end of a defamation case if Bates was so inclined.

    Exactly.

You might be right. You might be wrong. Think Warnock would be out the door if Bates tried that malarky. Unlike Grayson.

    Agreed, oddly enough.

    I'm still waiting on Simon's response ....

Snodgrass has been offered a contract, if he does not sign it he will be sold. This is how good Football clubs operate.
I do not believe any player is bigger than any club, even Barcelona would continue without Messi.

Let not over think it, at least we will get money for Snodgrass unlike most of the other player leaving in the summer.

Nah. Using the term "guarantee" in such context is holding a strong opinion - Marko could easily have written "I bet".

I think you are just looking for words to pick up on instead of debating the content and the opinions.

    Wish you'd lighten up a bit. You're getting a bit gloomy <laugh>

Don't you guys worry about Snoddy, he'll be wearing green & yellow & playing with his pal Howson, who might i add is turning out to be something special !
If that lad doesn't get into the England squad for the world cup qualifers at some stage i'll be majorly surprised.
He is another Scotty parker in the making <ok>

If he took everything I owned in court, he'd get an out of date PC and £30 000 worth of debt. That's it.

Which he can have. I'd use the money saved from not having £30 000 debt to buy myself a better PC.
