I know he gets a bad press and in the past he has done wrong but when I was a lad he was always top of the Hit Parade and an ever present of Top Of The Pops. He made some classic records like Rock and Roll part I and Rock and roll Parts II and III. I always remember hearing "Leader of The Gang" for the first time and thinking to myself that this was what music was meant to sound like. "I Love You love, My only true Love, I love you love me Love". Simply put, they don't write em like that anymore. Should we now start to actually acknowldge what an influence he was on the UK Music scene, and give him that BRIT Lifetime Achievement award that his music deserves? Should we not now allow him to put his past behind him, live and let live?
He was and always will be the "Leader" to me. I'm not ashamed to say it. I thought the Glitter Band were phenomenal musicians, I used to have an 8 track of Gary Glitter live and I used to play the drums on my dad's leather chair (with the stick bits off a wooden coathanger) and imagine what it would feel like to play an actual gig with the band.
If I didn't know any better I would say you are at it ya WUM!! Remove this thread now. It's disgusting.
