Does anyone know what the viewing figures were for, say, the Man Utd and Man City games yesterday? If Sky only get two or three million peak for big football games then I reckon one million for F1 is quite healthy.
here we go http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2012/may/14/sky-sports-scores-premier-league-final?newsfeed=true
I don't think you can read too much into yesterday's viewing figures. For some people going to the pub for an unusually big set of football matches will trump staying at home to do that and also watch the F1. The BBC was bound to be the bigger loser in that situation, because football + F1 was only an option yesterday if you had Sky.
Can i just say, i streamed some highlights of the sky coverage yesterday, And the beeb seems better IMO. Even though Sky have Brundle, the presenter is crap, the pundits boring etc.
Not sure I think Sky are slowly getting better and they did bring us that live coverage of the Williams garage burning down pretty quickly, where as the BBC thought it was Force India - Toro Rosso because of being further away.
I think Sky's coverage would be good if they replaced Croft with Davidson... or James Allen... or a wardrobe. I never used to watch the buildups on BBC as they used to bore me no end, on Saturday I was flicking between channels and Sky's was far superior in my opinion. On Sky they were discussing negotiations of the new concorde agreement, and Kravitz analysed the upgrades each team had brought to Spain, on the BBC they talked about Fernando Alonso's twitter, and how many points were between drivers in the championship. On Sunday Davidson analysed Maldonado's starts so far this season, something which I'd wanted to know as soon as he got pole but was too lazy to research myself. Watched all the action on the BBC though, just because the Coulthard-Edwards combination is miles better than the Brundle-Croft one.
I have no comment on Sky's coverage because I've only seen it once, in Australia. But unless there was foul play involved (and no broadcaster would go that far to get a story), coverage of the Williams fire was sheer chance. Jake and Eddie could very easily have been bumbling past the Williams garage at that point in time, and fronted the world's coverage of the incident.
Sky were so dramatic about it, I saw the highlights earlier and at the end Lazenby was doing a bit talking as if it was some huge disaster in which hundreds of lives had been lost, Ted pretty much cancelled his whole video blog and refused to comment on anything else that happened all weekend, even though his video ended up being half the length it usually is.
Yeah, I noticed Ted's blog too. The way he was talking you'd have thought that many people had died. Although, I suppose at the time people had been taken to hospital so perhaps it was a little more of a tense atmosphere.
Hahahahahaha… As I promised when the deal came to light, I have not watched Sky's coverage, unless forced by colleagues or commitments. However, I agree that 'Crofty' – as he conceitedly refers to himself – is highly irritating. He has always come across as a sycophant but seems to be getting worse rather than better. He's just too 'full of himself'; like a 70s disc-jockey who believes he's being paid for the sound of his voice and therefore cannot shut up! That said, he is still better than Legard (but who isn't?). But actually, Croft is in danger of approaching a similarly irritating level of ineptitude.
on sky news, they had a short story and said that "this man is a hero, he rescued people from the flames". then they mentioned he was a sky sports cameraman. i'm sure plenty of people helped out, but he was the only one mentioned.
This is exactly what he's like. In other news, please log in to view this image discusses whether mediocrity is good enough for an average team: http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/andrewbenson/2012/05/fresh_questions_over_mediocre.html
Ouch. He might be little more than a gnat in Schumacher's sphere but it must sting - if Schumacher is even aware of what he's doing to his legacy. There's, hopefully, one benefit to come out of all this: that people will henceforth use and accept the FACT of the statistic with a little more caution.
I'm really enjoying the BBC's team atm, I'll even forgive Lee '**** stirrer' McKenzie for her 'is 2 points enough for a race winning car?' question to Schumacher. It would be helpful if Anderson could put on a posh English accent when he talks, but all in all, Martin who?
