"Under this manager I don't have the feeling any more that he will put me in the side every week," Kuyt told The S*n ?????. "I'm under no illusion about playing every week. But I believe I am still good enough to play for Liverpool every week. "Last season I was scoring goals all over the place. But this season the manager bought three players who all played in my position. In the rotation system he used, I never found my rhythm again and never felt my old self." So he ain't a happy bunny but shed some light on the rotation policy? Not sure on that as it seemed Downing got loads of chances while Kuyt seemed to rarely feature. If this story is true, as looking at who is reporting it, not so sure?
I'd take it with a pinch of salt. As it's the Sun reporting it. I doubt Kuyt or anyone involved with Liverpool would even think about talking to them to be honest. If it is true though, i can't argue with what he said. He should have been used more, we all know this. Will be a shame if he goes but it's either going to be him or Downing and with Kenny as manager I'm pretty sure he won't sell the steaming pile of ****e he brought. Shame.
Along with most players in our side, Kuyt is only good when the players around him are performing. The only players that can play consistently are Suarez, Agger, Skrtel, Reina (I know he's been poor this season but still amongst the best in our team) and Lucas. As you can see, only one of these players is an attacker. We need to seriously invest more in our midfield.
Kuyt should have played more. I'd go as far to say thats fact. We'd have been stronger with Kuyt on the right over Henderson. I do with Kenny has favoritism with certain players.
That favouritism has cost us a lot this year, Downing started **** and finished **** for just one, yet played all the time.
The thing is, sticking with a player despite poor form can help them get out of a rot, so to speak. Rafa stuck with Lucas, and Kenny stuck with Carroll who then finalyl hit a bit of form. I'm quite surprised with Kenny because I heard he was quite ruthless during his first stint as manager. However, we have to remember that we don't have many options to choose from. We can all say he should have played Maxi and Kuyt more often ( which I agree with!) but how many times have we seen them both start only for them to go missing?
At the end of the day we need to improve in this position, Kuyt is no longer good enough, he can make excuses about not being able to settle in but surley rotation has to be accepted at a big club and players need to be able to adapt to that system. He's been a great player for us but he will find himself further down the pecking order next season.
I think he definately should of played more. Expressing your views publically is not the way to go. I'd be fuming if I was the boss and read that in the press.
Quite disappointed that Kuyt has felt the need to express this to the world, maybe anger/fear of missing out on the Euro's? I think we could get £8-10m for him still so should do that - been a good player for us and scored some important goals but lets face it we need to be replacing ageing players with younger, hungrier talent.
I wouldn't condemn him for what he says unless I was certain he said it, and meant it, in the way it has been reported. We all know journos ask provocative questions and then rearrange the answers to suit themselves.
Not too fussed that he said it. If it was someone like Reina, Agger, Skrtel, Lucas or Suarez, then I'd be concerned as they have a future at the club and contribute more consistently.
Dirk has always worked hard for us but there come a time for a player to move on, I think we would do well to get a few million for him and find a younger player for that role.
