    How about this then?

    ...............??????????????????????.................................
    ..Onouha.......Hill...........Ferdinand...............Taiwo.........
    ..????????...Faurlin...........Diakite..............Taarabt.........
    ...................Mackie.........Cisse..................................

    Subs
    Kenny
    Traore
    Young
    (a centre back)
    Helguson
    (a midfielder)
    Zamora

Preferably Hoilett to take the Right mid position. The midfielder on the bench could be Moses. All of a sudden our team seems great.

I'd still like to replace Hill. As much as he's been good in the majority of our good games, I can't look past how bad he was against Chelsea. He must have been in talks with Warnock about going to Leeds...and I think if we are going to seriously progress we need a good premiership defender to sure up that defence. I'd have Mackie and Cisse up front together, Bobby Z seems to be a waste most of the time and Bothroyd has done just as well.

I would like Derry to stay for one more year, just because he gives 100% every time, and could be a super sub for us when we are closing the game down. Hill deserves another year, I know no one will agree but if Keiron Dyer got fit he would be a good addition to the squad, and maybe Tommy Smith given one more year, he is an intelligent player although not a first teamer, a useful member. Otherwise I agree with Houston.
To buy, maybe Hoilett, Samba, Shay Given, Yakubu ?. and a couple of good loanees that are young and need game time.

Players have off days. He and Mackie have been head and shoulders above the rest of the squad this season.

Yeah but I think Clint has been over-performing this season. I can't see him sustaining that level of performance next year, and we must look to sign better players than him otherwise all the other clubs in a similar position will snap them up. We need to improve our squad more than most teams. I'm sure Hughes will realise this and sign several decent acquisitions, and I wouldn't be surprised for a second if Hill was replaced.

I cant believe some want to rip the heart out of this side! I fully understand we need better players to ensure we dont go down next season. But every team needs battlers, grafters, and players with passion. Those who are grateful to just be playing in this wonderful league.

We should definatley keep Hill and Derry, even if only squad players - they deserve it on this seasons form.

Surely we're losing Connolly, Ramage, Hall, Gabbidon, Borrowdale as it is.

Hill won't be off before all those.

With those we are dead certain fighting against relegation next season. We must aim lot higher than that.

I'd still like to see a place for Buz. Given a long enough run in the side, I think he could prove to be a Premiership player.

Why knocking Zamora? I thought he has had a good run for us during this run in and has had a hard role to play in holding up the ball. Good work rate in the games Ive been to IMHO.

Would keep Mackie, Hill and Derry and get shot of SWP ahead of any one else!

I agree Pils. He links the play very well. With 5 in midfield Zamora was a godsend. Mackie, Hill and Derry kept a team spirit.. we neglected that to our peril. Norwich and Swansea got the fact that a team is more than the sum of it's parts

I could tolerate another season on Hill, but please god not another of Shaun Derry attempting to get close to players. He's had a bit of passion but my word he turns slower than a cruise ship. We've stayed up and these players were let's face it still weak premier league players. Let's at least aim a little higher. I wouldn't sell them until we got players in first though, otherwise that would be a mare.

It is a tough role Pete and one that goes unnoticed sadly, week after week. IMHO Zamora is one of the best in this league in that role.
