After reading a few articles about our current situation, I was wondering how vital this managerial appointment will be for the Allams. On the team itself and its success we won't know until the end of next season but what about the Allams? More precisely our opinion of them? There's clearly a mixed vibe at the moment; we're mostly thankful yet upset. For me the next appointment will be very important for their image. It will show their ambition. It will determine their vision of the club's future. I'm not so fussed about the name of the manager. I think little things like, will they go for someone cheap or pricey will certainly say a lot. I love NB, I think he's a legend and didn't want him to go this way but the choice the Allams make to replace him could possibly make us forget all about what happened. It could unfortunately, also make us realise what poor decision-makers they are.
It's going to take immediate success on the pitch to restore the Allams reputation, I find it hard to imagine that they will parachute somebody in who is going to achieve better results or final table league position than Nicky did or Pearson before him with the same group of players. Fingers crossed they pull it off but its very long odds against in my book.
Well I'm willing to put faith in them, I just feel as though the appointment will mean a lot more than just results for the club... it may define our opinion of them and their ambition for our club. Getting someone like Kevin Keegan rather than Kevin Blackwell will show a lot more about them and their ambition... whether the results will come, we won't know but at the moment I feel they need to make a statement of intent.
Surely that's the whole point. Nick Barmby said that the players he had were good enough to get us into the play offs. So if the players were not the problem, why did we fail? May be the blame could be laid at the managers feet, maybe he made an error in judgement, maybe the cancelled Portsmouth match and the hectic March cost us points. Who ever the Allams bring in, he will only be the same as any other manager as far as ambition. But if the new manager left a club that was considered bigger or better than Hull City, that would be the only measure. Anyone who is unemployed could be coming here just for the sake of getting a job.
It's their club on paper but it's not really THEIR club in the true sense of the word.. and even though they've spent £50m, they've let a lot of people down.. I know the full story hasn't come out yet but it would take a truly shocking set of circumstances to change current public opinion..
To be honest I think a true disaster would be IF the Allams walked away . We can replace a manager but can we replace the Allams ?
I'm not sure, seems that there are plenty of fans happy with whats going on if you go by comments, find it all a bit shocking myself.
HAHAHAHAHA Nishy anyways I've said it before, people's opinions of Barmby as a manager are overshadowing the severity of what's happened at the club. Some are happy to see him gone so they are willing to ignore what the Allams have done and how they've done it. Quite sad really.
Ive never had a problem with change as long as the change is an improvement. So far i dont see many names LINKED TO HULL CITY who are an improvement on Nick Barmby. TWT.
Yeah, certainly not Blackwell, Megson, Robinson or Clark (the latter two having only League 1 experience - like Phil Parkinson!). TBH the managerial appointment is huge for the Allam's IMO - they have used up a huge chunk of the goodwill many fans have towards them for saving the club by their recent actions, and only by making an inspired appointment will they get that good will back.
Actually, that's a real good point. We're all so busy arguing about whether or not it was right to get rid of Nicky that we've taken our eye off the ball! He's gone now, but are any of the others as good? never mind better? Billy Davis and Mad Mick we can argue about, but Kevin Blackwell FFS! I'd rather give the job to TWF.
