Hello, Rebel. Yes, I seem to remember an exchange along those lines. I think - never knowingly passing up the opportunity to use two words where one will suffice - I may have said that Rangers "irreparably disfigured" the Scottish game, rather than opting for the straightforward "ruined". But that's by the by. Are you starting to feel jaded by the whole affair? I'm certainly struggling to keep up. "The lending facilities afforded other clubs from the same bank by the same person for ostensibly the same reason (stadium building with Murrays steel) has led me to reconsider...." This reference, for example, eludes me - but it certainly sounds outright grim. Imperialist dog, stop swamping our Danish culture with your Hollywood filth. Bøsserøv. Hmm. On those rare occasions I find myself idly browsing the Argos catalogue â "The Essential Book of Value" â I generally drift off and start thinking that what we need is a war. And not some piddlingly divisive war like Iraq, either, but a great big âoh good grief, mummy, the Germans are in the gardenâ sort of war; something around which we may usefully cohere and remind ourselves of all that it means to be British - or simply human. And if I'm forced to cast my elegant, caring mind towards dancing dogs on shows like Britainâs Got Talent, then I start to imagine that what we may need is not so much an energising war, as such, more a localised programme of extermination. A great number of Britons will need to die, of course, but then a great number of Britons deserve to die. We have too much time on our hands, we start to believe that we need material things that our grandparents would greet with bewilderment.....and large scale executions are probably the only way out of this mess. After that, sure, we can build a loving, sharing community. This is my considered response to your honest concerns and enquiry. Help yourself to a leaflet on the way out, Mick, and be sure to tell your friends of my movement.
If you've followed the manifesto I've been spouting for quite a few years now you'd know that my own solution to this particular problem was to simply purge everyone who has ever appeared on ITV. It's a little bit blunt, but I'm struggling to think of anyone who doesn't deserve to go... ok actually, there'd be some collateral in the form of maybe David Jason - but just think of all the Jeremy Kyle guests, X-Factor 'Stars', I'm A Celebrity... 'Celebrities?'. It would be awesome.
Sorry for misquoting you. I note the difference between disfiguring and ruining....there is one. I never thought I'd say this but I am quite weary of it. Very little changes except the spin. The only thing that surprises me is peoples surprise at what is going on.
Oh, donât apologise. There is certainly a difference, true, but the margins are subtle to the point of being microscopic. I think you maybe originally talked me down from using the word âruinedâ â âleave it, Psycho, âeâs not worf itâ - and âruinedâ might be considered a better choice of word nowadays, even though the final ruinous act may come from those chairmen inhabiting the Diddysphere. (Did you ever hear the rumour that Celtic would resign from the league - and presumably take their business elsewhere - in the event of a new company being given a free pass to the SPL? I felt the rumour seemed incredibly far-fetched, but it would certainly be interesting and dramatic. I quite like the fact that all of these seemingly mental possibilities are being explored and promoted. It's chaos out there.) "The only thing that surprises me is peoples surprise at what is going on......" I'm guilty of that, I'm afraid, and confess to being occasionally surprised at the sheer scale of the rot enveloping Rangers and the shabby nature of what sometimes seems like an Ibrox cartel. Possibly in the mistaken belief(?) that it would prompt a fuller investigation, I sometimes find myself actively hoping for liquidation. Everything should come out in the open, no matter the ultimate cost. You are clearly man of wisdom and compassion, Mick, and killing everyone who has ever appeared on ITV actually feels doable - so there is a nice practical-minded edge to your compassion. Just briefly and entirely at random, I'm picking something from your previous response (I'm sure I'll pick other things to dribble over later). I clearly have time on my hands: Spending more money on the military than on education certainly feels, on the surface, like the action of a society that may have entirely lost its sense of direction. I see what youâre saying and itâs certainly true that itâs impossible to please everyone all the time with the way our taxes are spent. Iâm more or less unhappily resigned to this fact, however, accepting that itâs always going to be a by-product of taxation and that taxation, like democracy itself â âIt has been said that democracy is the worst form of government except all the others that have been triedâ (Winston Churchill) â is probably a better idea than the alternatives and well worth sticking with in the meantime. (What some may class as waste may be seen as being vital to others, after all, and Iâm not sure how to reconcile these two things. Iâm sure someone, somewhere, must believe that the expenditure on the Millennium Dome was a good idea, for exampleâ¦..) On a slight tangent and specifically concerning the British Army, Iâd probably rather Britain had such a thing than didnât. And if I accept the likely (and unfortunate) necessity of such a thing in the world we live in, then I should like them to be armed to the teeth with the very best weaponry money can buy â because theyâre doing a job I would be too frightened to do myself and because they are merely carrying out the wishes of our elected representatives, even if we donât always care for the direction these (unrepresentative) representatives may lead us. Unless there are rogue elements within the army specifically disgracing themselves and their country â and it sometimes happens, of course, unfortunately â the fault should maybe always be seen to lie with the politicians and our angers and bemusement directed accordingly. If we ask the armed wing of our democracies to lay their lives on the line, after all, the least we can do is look out for them and treat them with the care and respect they deserve. And this, as ever, means money. Something like that, anyway. Get them on the streets of Britain and let the exterminations begin, something that ought to unite all fair-minded people. (And if you need them to sort out anyone in Ireland, by the way - just give us a shout. What's the worst that could happen?)
Why Mick are you not taking action against racist comments by Edge?. Other forums do not allow racist comments why doe this ?
We have to go back to my original point that disproportionally taxing wealth is a punishment for hard work. You're counter argument was, briefly, that you didn't see schools and hospitals as punishment - and that my position was maybe of one, where people like myself, were more interested in individualism than the greater good. Your original point was a valid one and was well put - but really it starts to lose it's way a little when you then make moves to extend the 'working for the greater good' policy to include paying for weapons to be used extensively against foreigners (or in some notable examples in the past 40 years, against people who were supposed to be our own citizens). Of course we have already covered the rights or wrongs of foreign intervention and there's probably little to be gained in going over the same points again on the morality of it. In terms of pure practicality though, If I was to up sticks and move to a business friendly Canton of good old neutral Switzerland, I would get taxed less, have a higher standard of living, live in a much more financially equal society than the UK - and have much less security risk, in terms of being invaded or terrorised by other groups of human beings.
If you are referring to the "paddy" comments: Because they weren't racist! Paddy is as offensive to some as is hun to others ... Remove one, remove the other! I wouldn't remove either of them. If you have seen any actual racism, let me know.
Maltese Mick are you giving the go ahead now for racist comments.? So you are happy for the scrum of the earth to continue with racist remarks ? I trust you will be happy and treat them all as a joke. Your forum will soon be full of all sorts when they know that you promote racists comments. Typical of some of the weak kneed cowards that claim they support Celtic, when in authority they turn the back on their own in order to cosy up to Rangers fans. It doesn't matter how evil or vile they are, in your mind if they are Rangers they are fine. Over the last while you have posted your desire for Rangers to be kept in the SPL. Your love for the cheating Rangers club and the vile scrum that follows them knows no bounds.
Go reconcile my bias against Celtic with the bias against Rangers I clearly have here http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/144939-The-Persecution-of-Medro-Pendes
Are you stupid or just plain ignorant (or both). Calling someone a Paddy is not racist! It's mildy xenophobic - if you want to get offended by anything An obsessive dullard ...
The 140 years of hurt and bias he has witnessed over 50 years as Celtic's number one fan! To be repeated ad infinitum...
