I don't know if anyone follows la liga but villarreal have been relegated. I know it probs doesn't say much because they was relegated but they have 2 amazing young defenders in Christian Zapata and Mateo massichino. It would be brilliant signing to bring one of them to the cottage Zapata can play across the back and Mateo is a CB.

Look quite pricey at a reputed £7m and £6.2m Craven but I guess with them going down there could be room to bargain.

Were we not linked to Nilmar at one time ?

How can they be amazing if they have contributed towards their teams relegation?

They were relegated because they had financial problems at the end of last year and had to sell off - or just let go - many of their best players. I'm not sure if Guisseppi Rossi is/was still there, but he'd be great for us up front. He's got a Shearer-like nose for goal.

Rossi got a cruciate ligament damage early in the season, he then recovered only for it to go again, so he is out injured again.

    As for full backs
Danny Simpson of Newcastle has not signed a new contract so far.
Chris Gunter of Nottingham Forest was mentioned in January.
Izaguirre has come back into the Celtic side, good attacking fullback.
Steven Whittaker at Rangers could be on a free, good defensive fullback.

I really rate Danny Simpson, I think he'd be a great signing.

Not to question Jol but surprised about Briggs. He emerged earlier than the other two and looked quite decent in some games- it would be worth giving him a run out before sending him off imo.

Perhaps he thinks sending Briggs off on loan until, say, Christmas would do him good and see how he gets on here in the ceond half of the season?

More strong rumours about our interest -

    http://www.clubcall.com/fulham/toon-ace-on-jols-radar-1431169.html

I reckon we could get him for around £2m, but the wages ? He's obviously looking for plus £25k pw which puts him among our top earners and I'm not at all sure that makes sense.

An alternative signing, Clyne of Palace would inevitably have a higher fee but lower wages.

Simpson has the experience; Clyne the potential. A tricky dilema !
