After watching Yaya Toure this season, it shows how static and slow our midfield has become. Spearing simply cannot phyiscally assert his dominance in a game.
Not sure which Sissoko were talking about here but I think we are in agreement that 2 CM's are required, It really is a massive weak spot for us. There is no smoke without fire and we know Kenny went to watch Elm play so he IS on the look out for a CM wetaher he believes we need another DM is another thing. Has anyone got any thoughts on what current midfielders you think derseve to keep their place in our squad for next season ? as other than Lucas I dont think any of the rest are good enough to see us into 4th providing you agree we should be aiming for the top 4.
Yeah it's a shame about M'Vila because he looks very talented. Moussa Sissoko who plays for Toulouse - he's 22 years old and is a box-to-box midfielder. Highly energetic, can defend and attack. He would definately add more energy and dominance to our midfield. I wouldn't be sad if Spearing was to go. Just doesn't add anything to the team and we saw how vulnerable our side is without Lucas or a player with Lucas's ability sitting in front of the defence. Henderson and Shelvey have bright futures ahead of them, hopefully they can continue to develop. Adam is a funny one - I would like to see him stay because he did show good form, alongside Lucas. He scored a few goals and got assists so I do believe he can contribute.
Moussa Sissoko is the one being talked about. Quality player. Bit of an all rounder, but dynamic. Looked up Elm recently, he seems to have a good eye for a pass, likes playing the diagonals out wide or quick early passes through the middle. Not sure if he'll be a top quality player, but he has ability. I'd be reasonably happy if he came, although I feel we could attract better. Would love Banega, but with Valencia finishing third, he'll be out of our reach now.
A lot of people are saying that Elm is one of the brightest talents to come out of Sweden since Ibrahimavic which is quite endearing. I can understand the logic of going for him becaus we are desperate for a playmaker like him
Rumours today is that Elm is not sure whether he wants to leave as he is happy at AZ. If true assume it means he is debating between being happy where he is and a big move to England.
Feels amazing How does it feel knowing Pardew (or whoever) will always have to rebuild every transfer window?? On topic...we need to buy IMO. This doesn't mean we have to spend a fortune but we certainly have to bring in a fair bit more quality. Colochini, Cabaye, Ben Arf Cisse and Ba will do (put your lip away toon boy only joking) A striker, proper bloody winger (or two), and a bit more muscle in midfield would be nice. Agree about the Agger dilema too. As class as he is we suffer everytime he gets injured and frankly it's a problem we have had since big Sami left.
realistically without jepordising the squad "harmony" and balance and at the same time phasing out rumoured periphial & loaned out players, i make it the following players that could be relelased or sold: Aqualani - wants to saty in Italy Joe Cole - wants to stay in France Kuyt - Rumoured to want more 1st team action, rumoured interest from Roma & Feynoord - went as far as discussing contract offer with Feynoord Maxi - rumoured to want to return to Argentina for more game time Fabio Aurelio - Out of contract Pancheco - Loaned out and should be sold. Now as far as Im concerned Having Spearing, Henderson, Shelvey in the squad is too much inexprience to challenge for the top 4, so if we are to assume Adam will be kept as a midfield option I suggest at least 1 of these players going on loan at the expense of a new midfield signing.
The dozy Geordie twat is forgetting they've ended up in the same competition we qualified for in march and that Downing has won more medals(1) in one season at Liverpool than every Newcastle player has over the last 40y+ years,as has Carroll.
