No it has to be MacMenemy. He couldn't put a winning team together the and got us relegated to the third tier.

Have to agree with stripes about Sbragia. He was given the job, as was Connor at Wolves, on a temporary basis with the sole aim of keeping us in the Premiership. Unlike Connor he managed to do that even though it was a close shave and then promptly resigned.

Back to the OP...personally, I have never felt so low regarding SAFC as when we appointed Wilkinson, and he done exactly what I feared....

I was gonna type virtually these exact words but you saved me the bother!

I remember reading a paper about a week before the appointment and the managers odds were listed! Sgt Wilko was right at the bottom at something stupid like 100/1!!!! I turned to my brother and laughed and said something like 'ooh could you imagine the horror if we got Howard Wilkinson!' A week later i'd never felt so embarrassed!!!

McEnemy, by a country mile, Then Wilkinson.

The annoying thing about McEmeny was when we were told he was comng to manage us, I think all Sunderland fans were made up. It took me about half a dozen game to realise this moron was way out of his depth. I imagine Tom Cowie felt the same way, I did feel sorry for TC...bet he thought he bagged a great manager at the time...little did we know eh!!

    Lawrie Mac.

Then Mick Buxton. Anyone remember when he was on Sunderland Clubcall? Always used to make me laugh when I dialled in. "Hello...this is Mick Buxton, errrr, welcome to, errrr, Sun'lunclubcall..."
