Just thought I would say hello for my first post, seemed like a good a time as any to dive in.

Without going over too much old ground from yesterday....
Thought Mackie was as always a true sportsman and gent as he always is. Tried to control Barton when Barton was losing it and his coolness in front of goal was unbelievable.
Think of all the obvious postivess Jamie brings, his coolness in front of goal against liverpool and city was unbelieavable and seems to get overlooked.
Shame that someone who brings such credit to the club losses press inches today to someone who does nothing but bring embrassement to the club.

Look fowards to posting with you all some more

Welcome on board mate. I think Mackie gets a bad press - he does more than kick the ball and run in a straight line after it. If he didn't do more than that, he'd be Tony Scully wouldn't he?

Thanks for making me feel welcome.

Tooting, have to agree. On first glance that is what Mackie does, but when you watch him over a season and scractch below the surface there is some real quality there.
What would people have said if someone like Rooney scored liked he did in the last minute against Liverpool or a header against city with the whole season on the line and the world watching.
Too easy to look at the effort he puts in and just say he hasn't got any class.

I'm pretty sure Jamie will be with us next year, does seem like we have plenty of players in some positions and not so many in others.

Met him before the Leeds game in our championship winning year, thoroughly nice guy and very level headed.

I love a footballer who gives 100% and that's what you get with Mackie, he has made his name known this year and I think he has also won Hughes over, he will definitely be with us next season.
He reminds me of players from our premiership past like Bardsley, McDonald....... they gave it all for the Hoops.

Welcome Ironman. Mackie is loyal too, and will probably be supportive of Joey today. If you give someone like Joey Barton the captaincy it sends a strange message to the other players. It needs to be taken off him promptly. NW gave him that role on the basis it was better to have him in the tent pissing out rather than outside the tent pissing in. But by the time Sparky takes Joey's authority, literally and figuratively, Joey will be outside the tent holding it in...

Build the team around the Mackies, Faurlins etc honest, never say die attitudes

Goldhawk, I think since January you can supprinsingly add Adel to the list as well.
I thought a few times (eg OT) he's wanted to get frustrated and lose interest but didn't let himself and kept on working away.

Welcome mate! Good to see this board growing and attracting new members!

I hold Mackie in the highest regard and sincerely hope he still has a place in the first team squad next season if, as expected, we introduce a few new players over the summer. Fantastically loyal and works incredibly hard for the club, the manager and the fans. Can't speak highly enough of him!

Sorry Queenslander, I'm only on my best beahviour to try and impress as its my first post.
I will descend into histrionics and mad rants soon enough.

To be honest it was one of the reasons I decided to join now, a whole off season of bedding yourself in before the seasons maddness of over emotionalness and sweeping statements starts.
I know how sensitive people are about thier message boards, thought easing in gently was the best approach!!
