Aw, that's terrible for that to happen, especially after how they got on today. I've just read on the BBC site as well that 4 members of the team were injured. I can't believe their day's been ruined like that.
Bad way to end the day, but good to see every team's mechanics getting involved to deal with the situation quickly, even if it's what they're trained to do. None of them thought '****, I'm only wearing shorts and t-shirt, this going to burn.' Just got the job done. Well done boys
wah wah wah. Did your hero get penalised for being ****? How sad it must be fo ryou that the rather mediocre Rosberg is once again ripping Schumacher a new one with 20x the points. Still, at least he's beating the HRT's, Marussia's and Caterhams. At the moment anyway.
The media are confident that no-one is in a life-threatening condition. Which if confirmed is good news. Unfortunately that will include F12012 (who by the way has been seeking out children in some of his other posts).
No doubt Pastor is like anyone of us, in the sense we wouldn't just allow an injured family member to roast in a situation like that. He did what anybody else here would of done though it must of been terrifying and very dangerous.
Maldonado, from hero to, er Hero. On a side note, looking at the amount of actual damage in the garage I'd have to say the guys did a fantastic job of controlling it.
A very, very sad incident indeed. I understand that there is now only one member of the team still in the Spanish hospital, who is expected to return to the UK soon (probably on Wednesday or Thursday). Apart from smoke-inhalation, he has suffered 30 - 40% burns which are no longer considered to be life-threatening, as he is now reported to be in a stable condition. I am also aware that, in the aftermath of the destruction caused, McLaren have made a generous offer to help the Williams team. Events such as this can sound the death-knell for a cash-strapped team, who have not only lost a complete chassis but an awful lot of spares and vitally important computing equipment. Whilst wishing this most seriously hurt victim a speedy and eventually full recovery (hopefully to return to his favoured work at some point in the future), and wishing Sir Frank Williams and his team well; I'd like to congratulate Ron Dennis, Martin Whitmarsh, Paddy Lowe, Sam Michael, Neil Oatley and the rest of the McLaren team for their support… Disaster is never welcome; but heroes will always emerge from the gloom. Well done to all concerned, including Pastor Maldonado, who had to do what everyone hopes will never be required of them.
A weekend of two very contrasting sets of emotion for the Williams camp. Really hoping for a speedy recovery to the Williams mechanic. Though it was a sad thing to happen, seeing the human side of F1 come in to play is a nice thing to see. We can sometimes forget that the crews lay their lives on the line for the sport too.
It was really nice to see members of Red Bull, Ferrari, HRT, Caterham, Lotus and others pitching in. Mclaren have even offered Equipment for monaco. F1 is family
Yep, I have to say that after the rampant cynicism of the admin side of F1, it's really touching to see this from the teams, McLaren especially.
Yes, this is the epitome of F1 teams, presented with adversity, its transformed into an opportunity, well played by everyone involved, I never expected anything else.
