Whenever he's played, he's impressed me.

    He's really a fantastic player.

He can cross, he can pass short and long, he's got really great balance on the ball (low center of gravity), decent skill, and works hard. He's got decent defensive qualities. Not an great tackler, but decent aggression, and can work with a fullback.

Can't wait for him to get into form.

    <ok>

Key player potential for me and could be a revelation in the Europa League.

I thought this too today, we looked a completely different team with him on. I think when we can get away with less defending, a 433 with him, Cabaye and Tiote would be incredibly creative and skillful. Failing that, put him wide left if we lose a striker in the summer, he'll be far more natural there than Ba I'd guess.

    Have you seen Douglas play?

Saylor is great, but Douglas is a beast mate. He's got decent pace over a long distance, VERY strong, stronger than anyone we have. 6ft 4, great in the air, good at tackling.

    He's exactly what we need.

Even though he has to adjust to English football, if we're picking a strongest 11, I'd pick Douglas over Saylor.

Taylor gives us more than just playing ability. Tayls is the heart of the team

Not doubting Douglas' athletic abilities but I do remmber Alain Goma also being strong, quick and good in the air but he didn't work out for us. Some times it's the other atributes that bring out the best in those around them. Colo being the prime example, not overly strong or quick or especially great in the air, but he's one of the first names on the sheet.

    Agreed.

I really think Pardew is stupid saying Willo is ahead of Saylor. Saylor is streets ahead of Willo!

Got everything crossed for him. I think he looks a talented lad. Do I expect this to be the end of his problems? Not really if I'm honest as that was something like his 6th operation on the area. However if he does come good I think we'll have a useful option in the squad.

Santon needs to move over to his natural role at right back really though

    Drop... the... captain? My word.

On a purely personal point I'd hate to drop Jonas, I think I might actually love the man.

Jonas just ran out of steam. In the early games he was in our top three performers every week. I suppose we'll have enough games next year to keep them all happy. Colo is a must. Not even a option to consider dropping him. He has been the 2nd best defender in the league for me this year. Douglas or whoever else comes in will have to compete the Saylor for a spot. Saylor will have to keep himself fit if he wants us to consider him a serious option long term. Otherwise he's gonna be like a Ledley King/Woodgate type. I don't think I'd bracket him like that yet, I'm still going with unlucky at present but he does miss a lot of football.

Just the sheer graft from Jonas was instrumental in our massive run at the start of the season, and his move inside for the run at the end was an absolute masterstroke from Pards for me. His crossing might be inconsistent (to say the least) but his passing along the floor, discipline and ability to keep the ball make him essential for me. The sheer versatility of having one of our 'holding' midfielders being that good going forward makes the formation work.
