By way of clarification, the transfer episode referred to did not involve any outbidding.
The player in question was actually en route to Swansea to complete the transfer, but the Club had a change of heart.
Consequently, the door was open for Norwich to step in,which they subsequently did.
    So,no mileage there,Carra.
Sorry about that, but you had a terrific season, and well done for that.

Fab few weeks to be a super swans fan. Finishing top of the bottom half is hell of an achievement. Well done to all the promoted teams from last year although I would have liked QPR to go down ( horrible fans when we were there). Great times for the club. Who thinks Europe next year. Not quite true- Norwich outbid Swansea while he was en route and the Swansea board felt that there wasn't enough time to check if Swansea would match it, so they just pulled the plug and sent him back as he was much closer (being in P'boro...) to Norwich.

Ditto on the terrific season. Your defence is what justifies you being the top promoted side.

That's true. You didn't half ship some goals as well as scoring a few.

to have one promoted team staying up is a great achievement in this day and age, and to have two teams is absolutely fantastic but to have all three teams is out of this world, A well done to all three teams. <ok> WBA are on the same goal difference as us but they have won one more game than us that takes presidence, today the club made an extra £1.5 million where most of it will be shared between the players and staff so thats a nice bonus for them to have a good summer break and get refreshed for another harder season that with 3 or 4 fresh faces we should cope very well.

The boy is not worth 4,5m quid from what ive seen thats for sure. He looks a £2m quid signing and im glad we didnt push the boat out for him tbh! A full pre season at Norwich will no doubt bring him along but im sure for that kind of money there are plenty of international standard defenders in europe who are already the finished article <ok>

Well done to Norwich for a great season, im so glad we could give you 6pts this season as well !! hopefully you will return the favour next season, its only fair !! <ok>

We didn't spend 4.5m!! Don't believe everything you hear from the P'boro management...

Our record transfer was for Earnshaw at £3.5m and he didn't beat that. Rumour has it it was around £2m with add-ons to about £3.2m.

He has seized his position in the starting line-up from centre-backs who had been in there most of the season and he doesn't look like letting go any time soon. Yes, he has made a few errors, but he is by far and away our most talented centre-back now, so I don't think any of the Norwich fans regret the fee at all

That should focus Brendan`s mind a bit. The two games against Wolves immediately spring to mind that should have yielded us at least two more points than we ended up with. That would have meant us moving up one or more places, with more filthy lucre in the pot.

Still, not really being picky, absolutely ecstatic with our performances over the season.

Just to add, there is no way on this earth you will get a 'finished article' for 4.5m in this day and age.

Well 2m sounds more resonable i must say! hope he works out well for you, if we had both agreed the fee i beleive he would have still gone to Norwich as you guys can afford higher wages than us, im glad for Norwich though, good club and is run the right way and that is crucial for British football imo <ok>

    You won't.

Name me a player that is the 'finished article'? In other words, he can't get any better!!!

    Cheers pal!

Out of interest, what is the Swansea wage cap? Ours is apparently around £15,000 pw

It's interesting because we both seemed to spend similar amounts on transfers, but you probably have better debt than us (2005-09 were terrible...)

There is no such player as there is always room to get better, the same with any profession.

Really ? i disagree there, im not its easy but those players are out there. Vorm cost 1,5m quid tiote at newcastle cost 3m, newcastle have been linked with brazilian defender Douglas that plays for fc twente and is very much the finished(seasoned??) article..price approx 5m euros !! at 6'4 and 5yrs in the top dutch flight thats good value is it not <ok>

There are lots of good players out there at resonable prices, our own players are way over inflated, eg Jordan henderson, charlie adam, andy carrol and many others!!
Dirk kuyt is apparently onthe market for 1,5m !!

Maybe the term "finished article" is not the right one, how about "seasoned" ...<laugh>
