    Liverpool;

    Finished 8th

    Par = 6th

    -2 x £20 = £40 to me

    Suarez ;

    League Goals = 11
    League Cup Goals (conceded) = 3

    Total Goals = 14

    Par = 15

    -1 x £10 = £10 to me

    £50 you owe me!

    I tell you what, buy me a ticket, and watch a game with me in the Kop for a League Game next year, and we'll call it quits.

    You can all say "Hello!"

    No.

    It was League goals only, I then conceded the League Cup goals, because I'm fair like that...

    I don't want your money, I am glad you took up the challenge, and it added a bit of interest to the season.

    See you double or quits 12/13!

    While you're here Schofield, genuine question:
    It's been suggested (by Rory Smith of the Times) that LFC have a transfer budget this summer of £30-35m (plus sales.)
    With that, who would you bring in and who would you sell to improve us?

    Are you sure about that? I don't want any moaning about me not paying about 3 months down the line even though it was you that told me not to!

    And with the way we performed this season I do not think I'll be putting more of my money on the line on Liverpool. Unless we make some more suitable signings of course.

    You're taking the mickey now. Though Drogba would not actually be a bad signing.

  7. Drogba: Would be a great signing but will never happen. He is going to be looking for that final pay day and we wouldn't pay his existing wages never mind the increase! Plus, of course, there is the Liverpool / Chelsea rivalry and alliance to them. Not forgetting a lack of league challenge and no Champions League football being a bit of a dampener.
    IMO: No chance

    Adebayor: Pretty much as above without the rivalry part. Plus, there would be a hefty fee involved and would restrict Carroll's involvement because they are of similar styles.
    IMO: No chance

    Adam Johnson: I think fans of just about every club in the country would like this lad in their side. Would Man City be willing to sell, if so would they sell to another English club? Would He join? How much would he cost? I'm sure we could cope with his wage demands though.
    IMO: No chance

    Shawcross: We don't need a central defender, we have Agger and Skrtel with Coates and Carragher as back up, Kelly and Wilson too if needs be. We have far more important areas to fill such as central midfield, a poacher and a winger or two. I really can't see us splashing £10m on a player we don't really need, plus would he join us with him being ex-Man Utd too?
    IMO: No chance

    You seem to place a great deal of store on Club Rivalries.

    Players couldn't give a flying **** about that.

    City let Adebayor go to Tottenham, why would they say no to you?

    And if Coates is your only real alternative to the two starting centre halves(all due respect to Carragher who has been fantastic but is now struggling), then another CH has to be a priority.

    But there's no point wasting just under a 1/3 of our budget on one (a centre half) though Dave.

    And the question is not why City wouldn't let Adebayor come to us, its why would Adebayour WANT to come to us instead of Spurs.

  10. City let Adebayor go to Tottenham because they wanted him off their books. Drogba would not leave Chelsea to join us (although, having said that I didn't think Torres would do the opposite journey), especially without CL football. Nor would we pay the wages of either of the forwards.

    CB is not as much a priority as the other areas I mentioned, and I agree that Carragher has gone! Kelly's position is CB, he has just been getting appearances at RB. Maybe we wiil get another CB in but a sincerely doubt we would splash £10m on one when other areas need improving.

    Adebayor follows the money.

    You might think that that would be exactly the type of Player you don't want, but when you aren't in the Champions League, it is exactly this type of Player that you must sign to get back in.

    Hard to swallow I know, but reality.

  12. Ah, the catch twenty-two situation. Splash the cash in the hope to make the CL, or don't splash the cash and risk not making it at all.

    Personally, I prefer the not splashing the cash route. Ok, so it will probably take a lot longer because it is the much harder path to follow, but nor does it put the clubs existence at financial risk. Man City got the likes of Adebayor, Craig Bellamy, Santa Cruz, etc and look how hard its been to try and shift them all on once they moved to the next level. With the impending FFP rules, clubs can't afford to have these sorts of players hanging about on their books anymore.

    I'd prefer to see us invest in scouting and find players that have the talent and are hungry for success and to prove themselves but have not yet been spotted by a major club. These players do not demand high fees or wages. Ie, a Suarez before Ajax got him or a Sergio Aguero before A.Madrid found him, etc.

    Of course, you still need a couple of star players to provide the experience and guidance too.

    Sergio Aguero wanted to join LFC before he was at Atletico. The club didn't want to pay 18m or so for a teenager though.

    Allegedly the club was offered Cristiano Ronaldo for about £4mil before United swooped in with their £12mil bid, but again, the club baulked at the fee and wage demand...

    The 19-year-old Portuguese midfielder is proving one of the stars of this year's Toulon under-20 tournament.

    Reds assistant manager Phil Thompson has been in France to observe the impact of the youngster, whose performances have attracted interest from a host of top European clubs.

    And Ronaldo, an attacking player who can play on either flank, has signalled his intentions by admitting it would be a "dream" to move to Anfield.

    "Liverpool are one of the best clubs in England and it would be a dream for any player to represent a club of such traditions," he said.

    "I will have to hope that they make an offer that is good for both Sporting and myself."

    Ronaldo added the lure of playing alongside Michael Owen has influenced his decision to greet a move.

    "The English League is not one of my favourites, but it is very interesting," he insisted.

    "I think my way of play can be reconciled in the Premiership. If a player possesses quality, he can adapt anywhere.

    "Michael Owen is a great player and any youngster would love to be in the same side as him.

    2003 in the Liverpool Echo. We've had situations where future world class players wanted the move to us we just didn't have the means ot desire to seal the deal. Jovetic, Dani Alves, Aguero, Ronaldo, Anelka etc. No wonder we haven't won a title in a long time.
