Reminds me of plucky Woy at the helm of Fulham: "conducts himself well" and "does wonders with a small club on a shoestring budget". Wasn't that McLeish as well? Problem is... We are not a small club (say what you will). He's not going to be battling relegation, he's not going to be going for the 40 point mark, he would need twice that to challenge for the title. People forget how crap Wigan were before these past few months. I've seen nothing to demonstrate he can lead a club to a title or CL spot.
Great move for you guys. Dalglish has been shocking, you cannot deny that however hard you try. MArtinez is young enough to grow with your next squad. He will be given money and will do well if you guys let him do it. He plays good football and he has a good eye for players. You could do so much worse.
I'm really not sure tbh. To be fair it could be a screwd move. You never know until somone is given the chance. I don't think I could handle it if it goes wrong.
Martinez would be the next Arsenal manager if Wenger left now. You would have a great young manager if you get him. Hes kept wigan up again and thats with no money and no hopes.
Didn't he turn Aston Villa down after they finished sixth to stay with Wigan...? Would he want to join us after we finished eighth...?
I would prefer Andre Villas Boas if I could choose. Good, young manager, exciting football. He was demolished by the likes of Terry, Cole, Cech, Lampard and Drogba, he wouldn't have that problem here. I don't like to sound anti Kenny and I'm not plastic. My biggest problems are his signings and his faith in continuing to play them and the players don't look interested since about December. I think I am right in saying that Downing finished the Premier league season with 0 goals and 0 assists.
That was last season, Villa didn't finish 6th last season. It was also well know that Villa was a sinking ship.
If you like him so much why don't you replace Fergie with him? Seriously, though, I hope this isn't true. Kenny was brought in, and needs to finish the job. I'm no Headshrinker but if we replace him too soon and a tragedy will ensue. We've shown progress this season (despite our results not showing that in the league), so I hope FSG Don't Look Back in Anger and act in haste. Snap decisions are ruinous. I feel Kenny should be allowed to Soldier On, and ,Little By Little, he'll Keep The Dream Alive. We're reaching what I like to call The Turning in Kenny's Masterplan. D'You Know What I Mean?
I don't want anyone to misunderstand me. I wanted Kenny to stay for at least another season. However, as I said to a mate last week, if I had to replace Kenny, it wouod be Martinez. Maybe just fate
