Off field problems as in the off field problems that a lot of people have, but they are lucky enough to not be followed around by the media and having their stories exposed?Give it a rest mate,Terry is not perfect neither are the rest of us.
Wow, you really need to come back to England just to understand. You must be cut off from the rest of the world! - He cheated on his wife - He cheated with a team mates girlfriend - He feels the need to get involved in every single decision a referee makes during a match - He is a big, headed, loud mouthed trouble maker - He thinks he is bigger than everyone else - He talks 'down' to people because he thinks he's Mr BigShot - He is currently on trial for racist comments to another player And you ask what he's done wrong
Don't understand the amount of people leaving out Gareth Barry. This is a almost ever present in the best team in England. People have very short memories and seem to have forgotten how crucial part he played in qualifying for World Cup 2010 and after missing the USA game he was seen as a savior coming back into the team V Algeria. The difference between Parker and Barry is simple: Gareth Barry has much better reading of the game then Parker so is there to intercept the pass before it is completed, whereas Scott Parker is a step behind and everything with him seems to be a last ditch tackle. As Paulo Maldini once said to be a great defensive player you shouldn't need to tackle.
Gareth Barry annoys me. Slows the game right down. Parker and Rodwell are better options in my eyes. And Tom Huddlestone for that matter. As for Terry, I'm fed up with him now. I'd play Rio, if fit, alongside Cahill. - - - - - - - - - -Hart- - - - - - - - Walker - Ferdinand - Cahill - Baines - - - - - - - - -Parker - - - - - - - - - - - -Lampard- - - Carrick- - - - Walcott - - - - - - - - - - - Young - - - - - - - - -Rooney- - - - - - - - OR - - - - - - - - - -Hart- - - - - - - - Walker - Ferdinand - Cahill - Baines - - - - - - - - -- - - - -- - - - - - - - - - - -Parker- - - - - Carrick- - - Walcott - - - - Lampard- - - Young - - - - - - - - -Rooney- - - - - - - - Subs: Foster, Robinson Richards, Lescott, Cole Rodwell, Gerrard, Chamberlain, Johnson Sturridge, Crouch, Welbeck
Opinion taken on board. However i feel that Michael Carrick is also guilty of slowing the game down and would much rather have Frank Lampard, a 20 goal a season midfielder than Michael Carrick. Must admit i am also a massive fan of Tom Huddlestone.
Carrick has been one of United's best players this season in my opinion. I've changed Gerrard for Lampard as I agree about his scoring record. Can't play both together though.
Not sure I would risk taking Bent that said we are hardly blessed with tons of international class strikers.
Thats just silly though, at least with terry his form has been off and he's not that good ASWELL as his off the field problems. But young is bang on form and one of Englands best players to say you don't want him because he dives is daft, would you not take ronaldo for the same reason? If young dived for a penalty in the euro finals I would not care a jot, would shut those bloody spanish up for once at least!
^^^^ It's wrong, I even went mental when Lallana dived against Pompey. Any player caught doing it should be given an automatic 3 match ban with no appeal. It would start to cut out the cheats and player like Young and Drogba may actually spend the majority of the match on their feet!
Terry's awful, on and off the pitch, I'll be disappointed if he goes. Lescott and Jagielka for me, after the Spain game. Barry has had some mediocre games in an England shirt but he's playing a key role in a probable title-winning team, he can't be that bad. Will be fascinating to see if Hodgson is brave enough to leave out some of the big names and take 'lesser' players who are actually in some sort of form. I certainly hope so.
Divings not right but people have dived before and will continue to dive for a while yet, we should bring ashley young as he is TALENTED regardless of diving. There are matches he bosses without the need to dive, class player and in the top 5 for the england team. Same applies for Drogba he can run matches without diving anytime he wants.
Sometimes we talk about these players as if we know them, when in reality few of us do. I am amazed how much people can 'hate' someone in football just on the angling/manipulations of the media. Bizarre.
Regardless of the media 'manipulation', Terry is objectively an utterly odious character. He's caused more controversy on and off the pitch than any other player I can think of. Is there anyone else in world football who has caused more pre-match handshakes to be cancelled? And, he's no longer even a good player. Should not go to the Euros.
I don't think Terry should go, however that should not be down to anything other than his footballing abilities. Being a good person is not a requisite for most jobs, just look at Murdoch etc.
I'm sorry, but players should not only be picked on footballing ability. Players' personalities and the effect they have within a team is absolutely important, and should be taken into account when picking the squad. Terry is a divisive figure now, half the players won't want to have anything to do with him, and that is not going to be good for morale.
I agree with you that how the player fits in with the others is important and there is no way Hodgson will be able to judge this at such short notice, however how do you know he is a divisive figure (he may well be) but I feel that often our judgement is clouded by what we are told from media sources. Everyone in football always goes on about how great a professional Ryan Giggs is but he has also had his misdemeanours but he has not been hounded for those. The media want to create characters who will divide opinion like Terry and Balotelli. I am just arguing this from an objective point of you, believe me I am not fond of Terry in any way.
Giggs has been a naughty boy (as have most other players to a greater or lesser extent) but on the pitch and the training ground he's always been a model professional. Terry on the other hand... It's established fact that Rio Ferdinand is less than impressed by what Terry did to his brother, so there's a dilemma for the manager. Another one is Wayne Bridge, who obviously wouldn't be considered this time, but who ended his England career because of Terry. Those are just the ones we know about. What do the other black players think of him? What about the City players who may be close friends with Bridge? Or the United players who will sympathise with Ferdinand's view? Then there are the Chelsea players who would back Terry. We've had enough cliques in the England squad in the recent past without all this nonsense. Of course, it works both ways and other players have to be professional and work with this guy, if he is picked, but in my view (and yours by the sounds of it) it would be sensible to leave him at home. His form lately makes this decision an easy one, surely...
