Just had a quick look at old farters Parters track record. It makes for interesting reading tbh.

    Reading - 3 seasons
He was appointed manager in 1999/2000 season. He left under a bit of a cloud after Readings board refused permission from West Ham Utd he resigned to force the issue. Quality bloke eh?

    West Ham - 3 seasons
2003/04. At WH, he started well enough and gained promotion.
2004/05 season he finished 9th in the EPL
2005/06 oh dear, after the worst set of results in 70 years of WH history, he was sacked in Dec 2006.

    Charlton - 3 seasons
    2006/07 - apt Charlton. Relegated
    2007/08 - 11th in the championship
2008 - sacked in the November 2008after poor run of form including 8 games without victory

    Southampton - 1 season
2009/10 - appointed. Got them to the League championship trophy (whatever the **** that is) but was sacked amidst rumours of low staff morale and conflicts at boardroom level. Sacked

2010 - December appointed manager of Newcastle. 14th in first season.
    2011/12 - Looks like a great 5th place finish
2012/13 - that dreaded 3rd season for him.

Now, its by no means guaranteed that history will repeat itself but young Mr Manager of the season 2011/12 doesn't exactly have the greatest track record of longevity or making his roots anywhere does he. Is it that the people and fans at his clubs soon find him out or that he just hasn't got a long term plan to put in place?

Whatever the reasons, there can be no doubt that he will be under the spotlight now as manager of the year and expectations will be high in the NUFC boardroom and on the terraces. The big question is can Big Al II stand the heat in the barcode kitchen. He has bottled or blown every other pressure moment in his managerial career and his smarmy smug exterior may just be a thin veneer hiding the realisation that he just cant handle this situation.

Certainly MoN has a much better track record at various levels and has NEVER been sacked as a manager in his 21 years as a manager - that's fairly unique in itself of course but he also has a great track record for winning trophies and titles as well.

Now I know there will be craas coming on here to offer their abuse towards me (you know that really hurts that does Lol) but the facts are there for all to debate. Pardew will have to break the habit of a lifetime and see out a 3rd season as manager. Can he? Will he?

    We shall see soon enough.

You must be equally concerned about O'Neill spitting his dummy out as soon as you don't give him £50million to spend then?

He also left Norwich after around 6 months I believe over the potential signing of a striker (was it Windass)?

Not to mention the fiasco of him agreeing to join Leeds then u-turning at the last moment claiming that "lots of false promises had been made". Hardly a saint.

That's an awful long post on mr pardew mind. All very interesting but his track record is of no interest to me. What he does at newcaslte is all that counts. What you as as Sunderland fan hopes will happen is nothing more than a wish and a prayer.

This time Pardew has got lucky with Carr, is he a good manager, is he shi*e. His record speaks for itself.

To be honest I would be worried about MON if I was a sunderland fan. Great man manager and great at getting people motivated and tactically he is decent.

HOWEVER, for the long term you need to be able to build a team and a squad. MON has proved time and time again that he is a liability in this area. If MON is given £20m to spend in the summer then, as a sunderland fan, I would be very worried. He has consistantly performed badly in the transfer market and seems to rate poor players and overpay for them.

His record at other clubs is completely irrelevant, he's with us now so he can only be judged by what he's done with us.

Saying he 'might' be a failure because what he's done in the past at a different club under vastly different circumstances is moronic.

The likes of Ashley Young are not poor players and if he can give us consecutive 6th place finishes like he did at Villa then I might just take that. <ok>

Carr puts the names in front of him, he tells lambias which ones to go for. He then has to put all that together in a system on the pitch, I'd say he's done well there.

I've been saying what cest said for a while. However, I have to admit that the mags consistency has been a revelation and they may even finish 3rd, which would be genuinely astonishing. It will be interesting to see what happens from here and they won't be taking anybody by surprise any more, not after a top 5 finish. As for MON, anyone who has taken Leicester to Wembley and won silver does not have to justify anything to posters on here. After Fergie and Arse-end he has as good a record as anyone and I am pretty relaxed about everything right now. We were relegation contenders when he came, but we've been safe for weeks now, which I suspect is partly the reason for our loss of form. A good win tomorrow would round off the season nicely...

It never happened but it's as boring/silly as saying we paid for Cisse's flight.

QWOP read the one above yours.

as to the OP I said 4 months ago it may be worth putting a daft fiver on Pardew to be the 1st manager sacked next season, He definitely has to hit the ground running, or "some" of the natives will get restless. He may be a huge success though and get 2nd or 3rd, you just never bloody know with football.

I am ashamed of myself. I got excited and went post crazy!

Regarding your point. If anyone does get restless at a dodgy few months then they deserve bad things happening to them. To expect another season like this next season is silly. It will be nice if it happens but other teams are likely to strengthen and probably with more quality than we can acquire. Top 8 should be the aim. Not top 4. I stand by this.

His record for this season speaks for itself and he deserves the kudos he is getting.

However, as a feet on the ground person, I suspect that he was brought in as a steady eddie manager who could maintain EPL status which rooke Hughton was untried in. The fans, if they are honest, were not happy about his choice, but now must admit what an inspired move by Mike Ashley it was and should give him the praise he deserves.

Ashley has done Newcastle proud by getting rid of the star disruptive players against fan opinion and bringing an unwanted manager. He will be strong enough to withstand any criticism which may be levelled at him in future.

If we are up there challenging for top 6 again next season I will be happy even if we miss out on Europe. We are probably a year or 2 ahead of where we planned to be.
