3 1/2 hours after the end of qualifying and still no announcement of either a penalty or whether the stewards are even considering one. They have made the decision to allow Kathikeyan to race, they must know the facts of what happened to hamilton's car, so seems strange nothing has been officialy reported as yet.
I know they're FIA officials but I'm absolutely sure part of their brief is to take their time, deliberate, mull the issues and make sure they come to the most newsworthy decision.
Wasn't Ron's last race in charge the 2009 Aussie GP? And he was in charge during the "spygate" scandal in '07. He wouldn't have tolerated the tardy pitstops they've had of late, but this is exactly the kind of fast one Ron would've tried to pull.
Who knows, maybe it was the telemtry that failed. We'll find out soon enough. Whilst I appreciate that McLaren have made mistakes and somewhat squandered a lot of the advantages they've briefly held this season, it is rather far fetched to claim that under Ron Dennis's leadership everything was rosy and nothing ever went wrong. Bodged pit stops did happen before 2009, bad judgement calls involving drivers happened and a certain fine from the FIA happened as well. So that would suggest that Ron Dennis is not quite the model of perfection. In fact, if one were to take the average finishing place in the WCC under Ron Dennis and compare it to the same statistic under Martin Whitmarsh, one might find that Mclaren under Whitmarsh has performed better (albeit with no championships).
Maybe Whitmarsh is there, giving a song and dance about a (probably non-existent) fuelling malfunction. I could write a song and dance for him if he likes.
Either that or he's telling them about Button's poor luck and how he will come good, overlooking Hamilton's performance altogether and then giving a load of waffle that no one can understand. May it does explain the delay.......
Stewards - 'so what was the technical problem?' MW - 'Well its a problem with the car that is technical'. Stewards - '*Sigh*'
That sounds like Bernie's next plan, F1: The Musical! "I am the very model of a modern F1 principal I've cock-ups in abundance and the brain of a small animal And I can't seem to stop the many failures astronomical Which everyone on forums seem to find extremely comical And even though my drivers are both very egotistical I keep on making errors that are basic and statistical It's quite alarming how I'm allowed out of a municipal Because I am the very model of a modern F1 principal!" (you try finding a bloody rhyme for "principal")
